| I know a lot of diabetics, and one in particular came to the office, apologizing for sweating profusely due to her insulin. This got me thinking about friends in our congregation who are extremely hot-natured and also diabetic, to the point that the ac is turned way down to accommodate them. I also know a gentleman in who is always extremely hot, who sweats a lot, and he is diabetic. Can taking insulin cause people to be hot all the time? I'm talking about people who are fanning themselves when it's comfortable for everyone else, who don't bother to wear jackets when everyone else is bundled in jackets because they just don't get cold. These aren't menopausal women, either. I figured those of you who have experience with insulin might have an answer to this. Not only am I curious, but I also want to be empathetic toward my friends, even when the ac is turned down so cold that my teeth chatter and I have to put on a sweater or wrap to stay warm. I've learned to put up with the cold, and I tend to grouse and complain, but if this is truly a trend in diabetics, then perhaps I can be a bit more compassionate and less complaining.

| Gee, Nita, that's weird. I've never heard of sweating being, per se, a "side effect" of properly administered insulin. An insulin dependent diabetic who is having an insulin reaction would sweat profusely but would have other symptoms as well. ... and, I might add, would need some glucose stat. I wonder if there's not something else going on with these folks. Very curious.
