Large salad of iceburg lettuce, fresh spinach leaves, romaine lettuce, organic green onions, tbsp of flax meal, tbsp sunflower seeds, broccli sprouts, organic vinegar, walnut oil, sea salt Main dish Homemade; ground beef (cooked on G.F grill). mixed with (sauted in walnut oil)-fresh green pepper, onion, cabbage, zuchinni, vegesal Small amount, maybe a t of walnut pieces 1/4 of a Dove Dark chocolate square. Instant tea with sweet and low and part of a Zevia sweetened with stevia cola maybe 1/4 of a 10 oz can My blood sugar is now 165!!! I also took my meds, 30mg Actos and 2mg Amaryl and some supplements, not sure which ones I took, except for garlic, omega 3, and cayene. I put my daily supplements is a container and just take a few with each meal. So I am not sure what combo I got at noon. Once I did a test of Actos, as I was suspicious that it was raising my blood sugar, after a similar near zero carb lunch with high blood sugars afterward. While fasting, I took my Actos, my blood sugar before taking it was 115, after taking it, without eating or drinking anything, my BS was 143. I always have problems with my noon after lunch BS going to high, that is when I take my Actos. Anyone have any ideas? Where can I get a good online carbo list and/or counter? Sandra randysgrandma

| Hey, G'ma. For me, this lunch would be a bit much. Three courses is generally more than I can handle. :rotf: Look at: chocolate, onion as probable culprits. (but remember, that it's the total net carbs that will make the difference.)

Well hi Ian, so glad to meet you. Have I told you how much I love Zevia cola????? It has really helped me to kick the diet Coke habit. I haven't had a diet cola in two months now. Ever since I read up on aspartame. I don't do Splenda either. Actually, I have some stevia, but it has maltodextrin mixed with it. It is a brand called OnlySweet. I have been trying to get off the sweet and low, but really don't like the taste of stevia, (except in your wonderful soda). I was using one sweet and low packet and one stevia packet per glass of tea. Today I decided to just do it. I am using only the Stevia now. But am concerned about it being mixed with maltodextrine. I also have some liquid Stevia that I use at times, but don't like it in drinks. Is there any Stevia that I might actually like the taste of. randysgrandma

Sandra, I am very pleased to meet you too! OnlySweet is excellent stevia. First off do not be concerned about the maltodextrin. Is is used to add filler and isn't bad (or good) for you. It makes it easier to measure the stevia. Otherwise the stevia would be way to sweet. I imagine you are objecting to the slightly bitter aftertaste. Here is what you need to try - buy some erythritol and mix it in your drink with the stevia. Erythritol is not as sweet as sugar or stevia, so by itself it won't work. But mixed with the stevia is blends very nicely and i think you will enjoy it. Most health food stores sell it. Make sure it is erythritol and not any other sugar alchohol like malitol or xylitol. They can cause diarrhea. I use OnlySweet (sometimes I buy Sweatleaf brand) stevia in my coffee every morning and can't imagine ever going back to Aspartame or Splenda. Let me know your results. -Ian

Thanks Ian, I was going to look up maltodextrin on the internet today. I did look it up before and seemed to remember that it wasn't one of the boogymen that I should be cautious of. The Health Food Store where I get the Zevia Cola, does have the erythritol you mentioned. (sounds like a gasoline additive doesnt it) I had researched it a little and was interested in buying some, but the price made me change my mind. Maybe I will have to budget it in. I think it was a really large bag that would last the rest of my lifetime anyway. ![]() Sandra randysgrandma
