Franny, diabetics can follow LC but it must be done very carefully and with doctor's close supervision! You mentioned in another forum that you have been given permission from your doctor to do LC. That's wonderful, but with high readings like you have, this WOE MUST be carried out with lots of care.

You really need to get the book and read it. Sit with your doctor and have a list of questions like this one for example, to go over with him or her. Going from 300-400 down to 89 is a big change and most likely you're going to feel it. That's exactly why LC can't be taken lightly for you.

We wish you the best Franny. I'm going to close this topic because you have a serious health issue that needs to be monitored by your doctor.

Take care

Susan

Frannie-
Talk with your doctor. Atkins will probably be a good thing for you, but you need to get the okay from the doc so you can adjust your insulin levels accordingly. Now this is from my own personal experience and from talking to several other diabetics I know....when your blood sugars have been uncontrolled for some time and especially as high as yours appear to have been, you are going to feel like crud when your sugars start running normally. Your body is used to high blood sugars and it takes a while for it to adjust to normal blood sugars. Headaches, fatigue all that is normal when your levels are going down. You do need to check with your endocrinologist or family physician and get those glucose levels down! It's for your own good cause you don't want the complications that can come from uncontrolled glucose. Good Luck to you!!!!
