from the South Beach Diet Newsletter about cinnamon. Taking about 1gr/day might be very helpful for diabetesII patients:

"People who suffer from type 2 diabetes lose their sensitivity to insulin, the hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. This results in fatigue and can ultimately lead to heart disease, kidney failure, and blindness. Cinnamon contains compounds that help make insulin more efficient, according the study's authors. Specifically, cinnamon can "improve the hormone's ability to bring glucose to the cells that need it," the researchers note."

Yes! That's true! There was a study in the news just a couple of weeks ago...

I have increased my cinnamon intake significantly.

It IS true! My DS has DM2, and has been using good spices to help control BG for at least two years, and with great results. She has been using cinnamon, cardamom/cardamon <whichever>, pepper, and a few others. I will check with her and let you guys know!

    Take care~

Tumeric is supposed to be excellent for the metabolism, I think.

    Brightlady,
you shall be surprised. just have atry. cinnamon is NOT sweet, but -like ginger- kind of hot. I didnt believe it by myself. But now I am a fan of cinnamon in meat sauces etc.

We've been using the "good" spices for a couple of years, too. I love cinnamon, so it's an easy one for me use. But I don't think I could handle bologna and cinnamon.
Even my scented candles and perfume are cinnamon based.
