| Here's a place to start: http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/showthread.php?t=8009 This thread, by Brightlady, has links to good sources of information. There are other references throughout the Diabetes forum. I hope everything will work out ok for your dad.

| Red, I'm so very sorry about your Dad. The first book I'd recommend would be "Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution," because it has an LC slant, and because Dr. Bernstein is Type 1 himself, a diabetes specialist, and knows whereof he speaks, IMO. Here's a link to his site: http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/ but his book is available on Amazon, or orderable from the big box bookstores. Let us know how it goes, ok?

| Thanks all!!! Got to see his bloodwork when he got home Thursday. Not too bad. I'm going out today to get that book and to check out the prices on some exercise equipment. The man WILL exercise. If it comes down to me standing behind him with an electrified cattle prod (sp???), so be it. But he WILL exercise.

| LOL Red. And I have no doubt you are serious about the cattle prod! Glad the numbers aren't horribly scary, but I hope your DF is scared enough to consider some life changes.

| I think he is scared enough in all honesty. I dragged him out with me today to look at exercise equipment and he is now the proud owner of his very own eliptical machine. I've tried to make him do something like this in the past - join a gym, get a treadmill, take a simple walk - to no avail. So the mere fact that he not only came with me, but bought something, makes me think that maybe, just *maybe*, I won't have to break out the cattle prod.
