Default Are LC Eaters Grumpy? Nikki Cox Seems To Think We Are!

This pissed me off so much when I saw it on tv that I went online just to see if I could find a text version of the story. And I did.

Apparently, The Powers That Be -- after more than a year of weekly tv stories about celebs using LCE to get/stay slender -- have suddenly decided that Hollywood is against LCE??!! To the point where skinny silicone-enhanced actresses on shows like Las Vegas are going around claiming "people who don't eat carbs are grumpy."

WHO SAID THAT LOW CARB MEANT NO CARBS? Who keeps perpetuating this lie that LCE means you consume no carbohydrates EVER?

Granted, there are days when I am out of veggies & don't get to the store, so the only carbs I'll have that day are in the cruciferous vegetable supplement caps I take. But usually, I'm chowing down on grilled or sauteed veggies or a salad at least twice a day. Atkins specifically indicates you should be consuming plenty of green vegetables & provides a list of acceptable ones.

After more than a year of seeing stories on entertainment shows like ET & Extra and so-called hard news reports from 20/20 about The Zone, Atkins, SugarBusters, etc. with all the pretty people talking about how they stay slim by eating low carb, what has happened? What's behind Hollywood suddenly misrepresenting LCE as a protein-only diet, claiming celebrities no longer follow LCE & claiming people on low-carb regimens have Low Energy??! In the past, these stories always included veggies, fruits & whole grains as part of LCE & portrayed it accurately.

Am I being paranoid, or is this the beginning of a MAJOR corporate backlash against LCE?

I've seen precious few of these, myself. Oh, I've seen a few balanced stories, but most of the coverage I've seen seems to deliberately portray low carbing, particularly Atkins, as the meat & cheese diet. Even when they admit we eat veggies, it's burried in pictures of bacon & burgers frying.

AAAAARGH!! I get so weary of this! When lowfat was the latest thing, I didn't hear anyone carrying on so about it. BECAUSE IT DIDN'T WORK. I believe alot of the reason that dimwit in The Pilot and this Nikki Cox chick, and others like them attempt to give lowcarb a bad rep is because they are ignorant and NOT ON IT THEMSELVES.

My best friend lost 75 pounds in 9 months doing lowcarb. Her doctor told her to just "avoid carbs like the plague", so she did. She read no books and asked no questions. When I expressed my concern, she just said "Don't knock it 'til you try it."

So, I did. BUT, I read DANDR first. I informed myself AND gave this WOE a fair shot. That's more than you'll get from 90% of the rest of the non-believing public.
When someone starts with me, I just try to avoid the whole thing. They'll still be fat and unhealthy and trying to convince themselves they're healthier than me long after I reach my goal weight.
