| Hello, all! This link ... http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2005/report/ ... will lead you to the written report of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines Committee. There is some interesting stuff in it...although it is a bit scientific and "dry."

| " Greater consumption of fruits and vegetables (5 to 13 servings or 2 ? to 6 ? cups per day depending on calorie needs3) is associated with a reduced risk of stroke and perhaps other CVDs, with a reduced risk of cancers in certain sites (oral cavity and pharynx, larynx, lung, esophagus, stomach, and colon-rectum), and with a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes (vegetables more than fruit). Moreover, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables may be a useful component of programs designed to achieve and sustain weight loss. " This is a fascinating observation by this group! Yet theya re still pushing 45-65% of our food intake come from grains and such. If I have read this article correctly! They are not leaning toward removing sugars and starches from our diets either! HMMMMM--they are suggesting lots of fruits and veggies are good for you--and if youa re eating this many fruits and veggies I guarantee you are NOT eating as many other foods as they suggest!
