Default LC Pasta: A dream come true or just a dream?

I have been very skeptical in the past of the claims made by Dreamfields about their low carb pasta; I want it to be true, but I'm just not convinced.
This article from Ediets sheds a little more light on the subject.

Thanks for posting this Trina! I found I got huge cravings when I ate a full serving of this but at half a serving I was fine. But once the box is gone I will not buy more.

So, in anecdotal reporting, some people are experiencing delayed blood glucose elevations, which could be good news for diabetics. But skeptics are still undecided about the validity of the claim of a serving having 37 grams of controlled carbs, especially for people who are more concerned about reducing carb intake rather than monitoring blood sugar levels.
Isn't monitoring blood sugar levels what this is all about???

Now, I am not in any way supporting or spurning this pasta. I can't do pasta -- LC or otherwise -- it gives me horrid cravings! However, it does sound like it is an issue for both total carbs and blood sugar. If these folks are having spikes 4 hours after eating this "food" then there is definitely an issue here.

Not something I want to put in my body, methinks...

I like it, but I don't eat it very often, since it does seem to cause me to gain a little. its good for a treat tho, once in awhile. Guess it depends on how your body reacts to it.

got one box, (still some in cabinet), ate it three days in a row....( not sure how much - I measured 1/2 cup cooked), did notice unusual amount of elimination after eating it....maybe thats the undigested fiber....
anyway, didn't make me crave anything. Pasta was one of those things I really missed, but you know, I have it maybe once a month or two, and am fine with it...

Great article Trina!!

I found that a 2 ounce serving didn't give me cravings or took me out of ketosis - however a larger serving left me curled in a fetal position running (crawling) to the bathroom for 12 hours.

I'm with Rob, I won't be buying this again either.

... and along these same lines, I got this from Atkins nutritionals (those wonderful folks who gave you sugar alcohols):

For me, Pipedream pasta is just that. I spike early and keep on going. FYI.

Oh, yeah. And like my experience with maltitol, I get no particular digestive disturbance.

Sorry. I used a cut and paste, but apparently dyslexia knows no boundaries.

Think it's ok now.

I thought it was really good...but really bad...LOL Has great taste and texture....but Im sure its not good for me..killed the ketosis and made me crave biggier and more pasta...so not a good idea...but will use as an alternative for the BIG family italian dinners over the holidays...so I can enjoy the good stuff too
Oh well maybe someone will get it right?? eventually?????
Thanks for the great info all the same!!
Hugs, Lisa

I really prefer the soy pasta anyways. The flavor, to me, is better.

You know, it's the sauce I like. So if I want that, I make it with spaghetti squash or I make "noodle" threads out of zucchini or summer squash using a rotary slicer. It takes me less than a minute to make 2 servings of "noodles" with the rotary slicer.

Every low carb pasta I've tried, I've hated.
I'd rather stay away from pasta itself and eat the sauce on chicken.

Maggie, you made me laugh out loud with your dyslexia statement! My malady is ADD, and I'm not kidding!

I view pasta the same way I do bread: it's filler to make the "good stuff" go farther and/or (in the case of bread ....) it's the stuff that keep the mayo or mustard off my hands while I eat the "good stuff" in the middle. I guess I'm just not a pasta or bread conassueir (sp), it always just seemed to be bland and "extra". (Sweets have been my main problem with L/C.)

When I make spaghetti for the family, I just have some meat and sauce. Add a whole wheat tortilla w/garlic butter and mozzarella melted on it AND a salad....there's no room for feeling deprived. Now, if I could just transfer my pasta/bread attitude to the sweet stuff! LOL!
