| Weight-conscious consumers who bought the heavily advertised CotiSlim dietary supplement may be a little lighter in the wallet than the waistline. The Federal Trade Commission filed suit in September charging the marketers of CortiSlim and CortiStress with making false and unsubstantiated claims that the supplements cause weight loss and prevent, or reduce the risk of, serious health conditions. The FTC is seeking refunds for consumers of both products, which netted more than $50 million in sales since last year.

| I saw this in AARP, too. I thought two things: First of all, no surprise at all that the supplement turned out to be a bunch of hooey. Secondly, it's kind of sad that on some level, I'm still wishing for that "magic pill" that will make me wake up slender. I didn't take Cortislim and I don't believe any pill provides magic weight loss, but I still felt a little twinge to read that one more had bit the dust. Aderyn |
