Kind of disconcerting that the lead investigator just dismisses all the well designed research that's been done thus far as not valid. Maybe he/she is just trying to hype his/her own upcomming study.

Very interesting, Ed. I hope to God the people who follow the Atkins in this study are told to do it correctly!

How odd that one of the problems the article states as a concern for low carb is the possibility of DIABETES:

Quote:
The low-carb diets popular in recent years typically are high in protein and fat, with fewer grains, fruits, potatoes and other carbohydrate-rich foods. Supporters say that approach promotes weight loss and leads to better overall health than conventional high-carb menus, but critics fear such diets will boost the rates of diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.
The article further goes on to state that there are no studies to back up Atkins' claims. Hey Andrea! Maybe you can forward some data from your "bank" to them!

People who don't want to hear the truth, don't want to hear the truth.

If I have time today, I'll try to email the newspaper, though, and take them to task for not having the journalist correct the claims of these "researchers". That was his or her job.
