| Yeah, I'm sitting here at my desk just now, looking at the message boards here, and two co-workers see what I'm looking at and say: "April, Atkins filed for bankruptcy today. I know this low carb thing would go under eventually." I said: "Larry, I've lost 150 pounds eating low carb. I've kept that weight off for 7 years. Just because a company may have been mismanaged financially doesn't negate the fact that the premise of low carb has helped millions of people lose weight and become healthy. You cannot compare the company to the way of life. Doing so just shows your ignorance. Further, it sounds to me like you were just waiting for this to happen so that you could use it as an excuse NOT try low carb, and then wear it like a badge that says: 'I didn't jump on the low carb bandwagon because I knew they'd file bankruptcy.'" "Well, Larry, I'm wearing the badge that says: 'I jumped on the low carb bandwagon, lost weight, became healthy, and changed my life.'" He just shut up and walked away.

| I love it, April! When people bash low carb I proudly tell them I have lost 74 pounds on it and it is the only thing that has worked for me and that I have stuck with for almost a year now. The media is always announcing the demise of the "diet" because of the failed companies or divisions that exclusively sell low carb items. I don't think this will ever change. Pretty sad that it could turn some people away from it that would otherwise be helped.

| Every story I heard yesterday about this just had so much wrong information about lc eating... I mean ... talk about people not reading the book and then stating how the diet works - eating nothing but meat and eggs, nothing about veggies and fruits.... and drinking water, and exercise.... I kept getting madder and madder... like I eat lots of veggies.... .... I wanted to sock someone....

| Actually, as far as I'm concerned, the bankruptcy IS proof that the fad has ended -- the fad for weirdly engineered, low-carb foods that nature never intended to be low in carbs; the fad of thinking shakes and diet bars could substitute for lifestyle changes; the fad of thinking there should be a short-term fix for a long-term problem. But eating low-carb? That's not a fad, it's a lifestlyle. Aderyn PS: WAY TO GO APRIL!!! |

| Aderyn, that is so much what I was going to say. I was asked, "When all these companies quit making these products, what are you going to eat?" The same stuff I always eat. The products don't do well because if that's what you eat all the time, you don't lose anything and quit buying them. Those of us who know what we're doing eat very little of those products. That's why the products fail. It has nothing to do with whether low carb works or not. Real low carbers know better than to depend heavily on the frankenfoods. We've developed a taste for what's good for us, and what's GOOD. Only 2% of the country following a low carb lifestyle? I guess we can look forward to a 98% obesity rate. Stacie |

| LOL! I knew when I heard about Atkins NUTRITIONALS filing for bankruptcy I'd be hearing alot of crap from people. I just say "True followers of the actual diet don't eat the fake foods anyway.....THAT'S why they went under!" We aren't buying the stuff and people who are not watching their carbs sure as H*** aren't buying it either. It's too expensive and most of it doesn't taste good, either. They are continuing to make some bars and shakes, so whatever. This just gives the naysayers something else to use to justify their unwillingness to give up sugar!
