| This is a great article. I had problems sleeping during perimenopause and menopause - but not from night sweats or hot flashes. Just trouble staying asleep. Melatonin helps, as does cutting out caffeine. Since I switched to decaf coffee, I sleep much better. I also sleep better now that I'm 70 lbs lighter. Thanks for the info.

| Being able to sleep deeply enough and without waking is also directly linked to adequate serotonin levels. It's no wonder that when depressed, people don't sleep well; it's not as much the "worry" or "anxiety" or whatever as it is the lack of neurotransmitters. Of course, it's a vicious circle, too.
