| http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070124/hl_nm/trans_fat_dc Then there is Z Trim, a product made from fiber (hulls of corn) that is a zero calorie product used in foods to mimic fat, such as mayonnaise. So far I have not come across any carb info, but if it's zero calorie, and all fiber, then perhaps there is no worry to this. They are actually using it in some schools, in ranch dips and other foods, and the kids really like it. Of course, they are using it in cakes, pies, ice cream, etc.; so the sugar content will still be there. They are touting this as an answer to the obesity problem. It cannot be used in frying, but can be used in baking. http://www.ztrim.com/fisa.asp http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070118/...t_substitute_1 Instead of diddling with fat content, trying to "cure" obesity, they should be encouraging people to quit eating junk food, eat good, fresh, high quality, nutritious foods, and good fats. But then, there isn't big money in that.

| I couldn't agree more! Even though it has now been generally acknowledged that low fat may not be the best option, it was drummed into our heads for so long that people in general, and marketers in particular, have a very hard time giving up the concept. Aderyn |
