Default Corn Syrup Commercial

I've seen this commercial twice, on the Food Network. A blonde is offering her boyfriend a popsicle, and he says, hey, wait a minute, doesn't that have high fructose corn syrup in it? And she says, basically, duh, it's made from corn, (like it has to be good for you, then), it's as sweet as sugar, and it's ok in moderation. That's the gist of the commercial, anyway.

I did some research, and found an interesting site about corn syrup, how it's made, how it's disastrous for health, and some other good tidbits.

The Murky World of High-Fructose Corn Syrup

And another, related article:

The Double Danger of High Fructose Corn Syrup

And one more take on the subject:

High-Fructose Corn Syrup: Not So Sweet for the Planet - washingtonpost.com

When I saw that commercial, it just raised my ire. Made me mad, seething, furious, etc. People will believe this hype, and their health will go down the tubes.

Lots of things "in moderation" can kill you - poison; for some, peanuts or shellfish; for most of us, HFCS! Except, we don't get it in moderation anymore, it's put in everything, from bologna to ice cream to bread, you name it, it probably has HFCS in it.

Just had to rant.

Yeesh! I could do a commercial like that: "Cyanide, duh, it's made from apricots."

yeah...I've seen it also...
obviously, (as listed in small print at the bottom)....the corn growers assoc sponsors the commercial. Guess they felt that ole HFCS was just getting a *bad wrap*.......hehe.
