Here's an article that makes what really isn't that hard, much more confusing... http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...94/?hub=Health

Sheesh! It isn't THAT hard people!!! Whoever wrote this obviously doesn't have a clue about the GI or low-carb or anything else related. <sigh> Rick Mendosa does a MUCH better job. Summer

Check out: www.mendosa.com and click on "Food" in the left column and proceed to the Glycemic Index. His whole GI site is wonderful; very informative with practical application ideas. Also, a great book: The New Glucose Revolution by Jennie Brand-Miller, PhD, et.,al. I think the author of this article only read the opening chapter and reviews of her book. LOL! HTH, Summer

| I get a kick out of folks who are supposed to be experts making comments about something that is so patently wrong. Like the nutritionist who said that Atkins was bad because you're only allowed 20 gms carbs. He obviously didn't read past the chapter on induction. Ridiculous. | Have you ever heard anything about combining the Atkins Diet with prescription Xenical (a "fat blocker." Sounds like a slam-dunk winning strategy to me...Any thoughts? |

Hi Eric, I have not tried Xenical, but have several friends who have. According to what they tell me, part of why this drug works for them is that they get pretty severe diarrhea and other GI upset if they eat too much fat while taking it. So it has kind of a "preventive" effect--they avoid eating much fat, as they know they will pay for it if they do. To me, that would be the hitch to trying it with Atkins; the Atkins diet is comparatively high fat. Let us know if you try it--inquiring minds want to know if it works Aderyn
