I was brousing menus looking for somewhere to eat dinner tonight when I happened in T.G.I. Friday's site. They have a big banner announcing that coming soon is an Atkins-approved menu.

We're starting to make an impact. I always announce that I'm LCing. Soon they understand that if they want to keep you as a customer, they need to add some LC friendly items.

I really like Friday's. I can't wait to see what they have to offer!

Speaking of chains going lc, driving to work the other day I noticed a Bickfords offering lc menu options and a Jumbalaya offering lc menu options. And the Silvin Street Grill near my house has a sugarfree, lc coffee mouse dessert that is out of this world. Nice to be able to go out to eat and get dessert without 'cheating'. Now if the Cheesecake Factory would only start offering a sugarfree/lc cheesecake my world would be near perfect (from an eating standpoint that is).

Yes, I heard on the radio this morning that their new menu rolls out on the 9th of December with tuna salad wraps ( in lettuce maybe?) and garlic chicken with sauteed veggies. Can't wait to try it-I don't have a Ruby Tuesday's here in Texas. We do have Don Pablo's at least.

Hmmm...

I'm getting a bad feeling from this.

The discussion on TV has been about how they are doing this in conjunction with Atkins Nutritionals. As much as I love the dear old dead doc, Atkins Nutritionals is run by unethical people that wouldn't think twice about approving some "low-carb" diet-killing treats for a buck.

It's sad, really. It's very easy to make low-carb dinners. You just remove the bread and potato side dishes and you're 99% of the way there. It would be really disgusting if, instead of just doing that, they start peddling fake low-carb cheesecake and stuff like that.

Well, I have eaten at T.G.I.'s several times and had the LC each time. the cheese cake is delicious but here they advertised it was only 1 carb. In reality it is 6 carbs. The hanburger in a LC wrap is really good. but they do have a high amount of carbs. Like 9 in the hamburger. But it beats the heck out of cooking all the time and trying to figure out what to cook.
Hope you all like it.

Here's a little further info on their lc menu:

I think that the fact these items are appearing on menus is a very positive step; however, we have to make informed, intelligent choices. Just as with lc products on the shelves, I read labels, ask questions, look beyond the marketing. We can applaud their efforts, but should not let them do our thinking for us.

I just received an e-mail the Atkins stating that TGIFriday's has indeed added Atkins approved stuff to their menu.

To check it out go to TGIFridays.com
