| Support is one of the MOST critical parts of the success of this whole thing. I never could have gotten as far as I have without the support of the people on this website. And it gives me such pleasure to give it back. I know what it's like to be a beginner and to not know exactly where to begin, besides reading the book of my plan choice. It's the reinforcement that you get from supporters that really helps keep your momentum going. I believe this so much, that I am going to try to get a grass roots support group going at my local Curves -exercise place. I just began this, so I have no idea where it will lead at this point. I feel passionate about this and want to help others. One thing that was said in this article really struck me hard.
quote:
"Most overweight people are down on themselves," she says. "How hard are you going to work for someone you don't like? It's about learning to like yourself as a person and realizing you are not your weight."

This is critical. How many of you could look at yourself, on the inside, and say......."I am a nice person. I have a lot to offer and can be a good friend. I am a good family member. Therefore, I have value. I contribute to society in one way or another." With that attitude, the outside is merely a shell. And that can be changed. You are NOT your weight. So, it is critical to at least believe you are a good person and deserve a better body. That's where the support comes in. Everyone here knows what it's like to struggle with weight. So we can all genuinely support each other. And the interesting thing about this is that we DO get to know each other, on the inside. We value each other. We know we all matter. And we become good friends. Each and everyone of you deserves the support you get here (and anywhere else you get it too.) YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!!! | Wow! What a neat website! I joined e-diets but may quit and stick to this website for the support I need. I'm a newbie on ATKINS as of Monday, January 5. I've lost 5.5 lbs already which apparently is normal...but I'm also walking and doing Pilates -- all of which makes me feel great! And that's what's helping to motivate me and keep me focused (my husband is also doing Atkins with me which also helps). Anyway, I love reading the message boards. I didn't join the Valentine challenge. Is it too late to do so? 225/220/145 |

| Eliz, welcome, welcome, welcome!!!!!! It's great to have you with us. You are off to a fabulous start. That's great that DH (dear Husband) is doing this with you. You have built in support, that is awesome. Check around the whole site, there's TONS. You can read MY story on the home page, catch the link to the Beginner's Guide up there at the top, and check out those recipes in the green link at the top. There is soooooo much here, you could spend days finding it all. The "forums" is where most of us "chat" although we do have a chat room. It's a real hit or miss thing. Please don't hesitate to ask all the questions you need to. There are lots of seasoned folks here who just love to share what they've learned on their LC journeys. Again, Welcome aboard and same to your DH!!! ![]() p.s. It is not too late to join the Val Chall. Just pop in there and tell Tanya (prinzess fay) how much you would like to lose by Feb 14th. That's it, it's that simple. She'll write you down and off you go.........good luck!!!!!
