Exclamation NPD Report on Low Carb

First, please note that the NPD is NOT a group of doctors, nutritionists, or health professionals of any kind. They are a sales and marketing consultant firm used by the food service industry. However, I thought their study of lc was interesting:

"* People who are eating lower carbs report health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol at above average rates.
"

I do not get this quote. Do these people report this before they begin low-carbing or after??

Stuff like this really makes me want to yell at someone. Obviously.. they aren't really doing their research on people who correctly and permanently make this a WAY OF LIFE NOT A DIET!!! All you have to do is look around at the success stories on this site and you'll see how this way of eating pays off in so many ways.

Once again... I think we are being poorly labeled as a group of "fad-followers"... it's disgusting!

Joanna,

Yeah, they are really unclear as to what the study shows: do these people have these problems because they are eat low carb, or do they eat low carb to control these pre-existing problems? I believe it's the latter, but...

I disagree... low carbing can't be a fad, it feels good....low-fatting feels worse than torture.

I wonder if the guy who said that is just bitter about the name his parents saddled him with?

Anyway, one valid point of the study is that it appears a lot of people who think they are eating low carb don't know what they are doing. One thing I really like about this web site and forum is that they both stress educating yourself about low carb eating.
