Wow! We had several members submit this news item, and I could only post one to the News Section, so I posted the first one submitted here.

The rest, I scattered around the forum.

Thanks, all!

quote:
McDonald's and Wendy's, the other two largest burger purveyors, aren't biting on bunless for now. Spokesmen for both those chains, which have added entree salads and taken other steps to assuage customers' diet concerns, said Wednesday they have no plans to include bunless burgers on their menus.

Hah! Not true. The McDonald's near my house has a sign listing the price for bunless quarter pounders!

The Whopper meal with the salad sounds good. I might have to try that.

That's great! And to the obligatory frumpy, unimpressed dietition who said it would be better to eat in on a bun in order to control calories and fat I say huh?

There are some Burger King's now that serve burgers as early as 8 AM for people who'd rather have them for breakfast instead of a bagel......Guess that's progress!

I just love seeing more popular eateries providing thier items in low carb form. Bun-less, etc. I mean what is so hard about it? Just a little different packaging maybe. They have all the basic low-carb foods, beef, lettuce, tomato, etc anyway. Just save the bun for the next guy or gal. I'll just throw it away anyhow.

I just had to comment on the general tone of the article. Of course this is a "trend" and "it won't last" it's only been around already for more then 30 years, geez!

Some days I can't wait for the "official" longitudinal studies to come out so maybethey'll finally change their tune!]

The other thing I noticed was somehow sub-ing out the fries with salad and the soda with water has nothing to do with this "low carb craze". Like we all sit around eating fat by the handfuls and avoid anything green and "healthy" at all costs
