I kind of like the term "federal nutrition nannies."

Hmmm...

I wonder if the study might still have some validity. Note the means by which the author discredits the study. He points out that the high-carb group ate 600 fewer calories a day, and thus they lost weight because they ate fewer calories.

Well... yeah. We could have figured that out ourselves.

That's the way it usually works, even with low-carb diets. We eat fewer calories than we used to because we're LESS HUNGRY.

So the real question becomes this: Do prediabetics on a low-glycemic high-carb diet experience less hunger and voluntarily eat fewer calories than prediabetics on a control diet? If so, then these still may be some promising results. Even if the study isn't well prepared.

Remember, not everybody can do low-carb. A lot of diabetics have messed up kidneys and have to eat low-protein diets.

Just trying to be objective.

It's the same here in germany. I was treated with massive carbs when they found a Typ 2 pre-diabteic.
And the consequenzes: I grew fat and was an addict to
1. Carbs
2. diabetic medizine (which i do not use anymore, because there IS no blood suggar to treat, when doing Atkins!

These "nanies" are trained by health institutes. And they do know nearly nothing!
"Eat your carbs! NO FAT, LOW protein!" They told me

It is kind of saying to an alcohol diseased person by advising:
"Do not drink vodka anymore, but it's okay with beer or wine!"

greetings Fritz

Hi, Fritz.

The official "line" in this country on Type 2DM, is still pretty screwy, too. However, more and more individual doctors who treat it are counseling a low carbohydrate regimen combined with regular activity.

For most of us, that keeps blood sugars in the normal range with no other intervention.

Have you found a doctor who is at least tolerant of your way of eating? Even if you're pretty good about testing your own blood sugars, it's still important to get an occassional HbA1C done to make sure your control has been consistent over time.
