| You can't believe everything you read. The new high-carb weight loss is not what it appears. I hope I did this link correctly. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,109890,00.html If not just go to www.foxnews.com and scroll down to the junk science article. Happy low carbing, Carol |

| Hmmm... I wonder if the study might still have some validity. Note the means by which the author discredits the study. He points out that the high-carb group ate 600 fewer calories a day, and thus they lost weight because they ate fewer calories. Well... yeah. We could have figured that out ourselves. That's the way it usually works, even with low-carb diets. We eat fewer calories than we used to because we're LESS HUNGRY. So the real question becomes this: Do prediabetics on a low-glycemic high-carb diet experience less hunger and voluntarily eat fewer calories than prediabetics on a control diet? If so, then these still may be some promising results. Even if the study isn't well prepared. Remember, not everybody can do low-carb. A lot of diabetics have messed up kidneys and have to eat low-protein diets. Just trying to be objective. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | Hi, Fritz. The official "line" in this country on Type 2DM, is still pretty screwy, too. However, more and more individual doctors who treat it are counseling a low carbohydrate regimen combined with regular activity. For most of us, that keeps blood sugars in the normal range with no other intervention. Have you found a doctor who is at least tolerant of your way of eating? Even if you're pretty good about testing your own blood sugars, it's still important to get an occassional HbA1C done to make sure your control has been consistent over time.
