| New Kemps Carb Promise Ice Cream Offers Low-Carb Dieters Six Decadent Flavors MINNEAPOLIS, MN, February 4, 2004 – Kemps has introduced a new line of premium low-carb ice cream – Carb Promise – with more indulgent flavors than any other low-carb ice cream on the U.S. market. Carb Promise Ice Cream is based upon the increasingly-popular Atkins Diet, The South Beach Diet, The Zone and other low-carb diets. “Millions of Americans are leading healthier lives through low-carb diets. Until now, their options for enjoying ice cream have been very limited,” says Rachel Kyllo, Vice President – Marketing for Kemps, Minnesota’s leading dairy. “Kemps Carb Promise delivers six delectable flavors for only three-to-four net carbs. It’s the perfect frozen treat for low-carb dieters!” The rich flavors comprising the complete line of Kemps Carb Promise Ice Cream: Vanilla Butter Pecan Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup – Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirls and peanut butter filled chocolate cups Vanilla Fudge Nut Sundae – Creamy vanilla ice cream with thick fudge and chocolate covered peanuts Toffee Fudge Chunk – Creamy vanilla ice cream studded with toffee and chocolate chunks Caramel Cow Tracks – The classic combination of caramel-filled chocolate cows and caramel revel in a delicious low-carb formulation Low-carb diet plans are based on the premise that certain carbohydrates contribute to blood glucose levels, while other carbohydrates (non-impact carbs such as fiber) do not. Dieters strive for low “net carbs,” the remaining carbohydrate grams in food once non-impact carbs are subtracted from total carbohydrate content. With only three to four “net carbs” per serving, Kemps Carb Promise Ice Cream was developed specifically for consumers on low-carb diets. Kemps Carb Promise Ice Cream, which sells for the suggested retail price of $4.99 per half-gallon, is available at all leading supermarket chains in the Upper Midwest and Gulf states. ### |

| According to their web site, a 1/2 cup serving has between 7 and 16 gms of carbs from sugars and sugar alcohols, depending on the flavor. You can check it out here. | yes, I actually thought that they carb counts were pretty good, even if you don't subtract out the sugar alcohols - except for the "cow tracks" which is a good bit higher than the others because it has little sugar free chocolate cows in it. you can get a coupon too at: http://www.kemps.com/products/carbpr...cs/coupon.html |

| The chocolate peanut butter (my favorite!) has only 9 carbs per 1/2 cup if you don't minus the 5 grams of SA. That is a bit high maybe for only a 1/2 cup, but not to bad if you really needed ice cream. I wonder what the SA's will do for our tummies though? I don't have a problem with gastric distress with a piece or two of the LC chocolates, but you never know about the ice cream. | The label on the carton shows the Splenda logo - wonder what sugar alcohols they're using in addition? I didn't see a listing of ingredients, or maybe I just skimmed it too quickly (being here at work and all....) Char Don't squat with yer spurs on! |

| Looks great. Haven't seen them around Rochester, but I have my own ice creams. I make my own vanilla based on a recipe from Dr. Atkins new diet cookbook. It is made from heavy cream, egg yolks, a vanilla bean, Splenda, and S/F Jell-O pudding. Good, but not great, but it is free of all sugar alcohols and has 5.4 g per 1/2 cup. I also decided to try the Bryers Carb Smart vanilla. It seems to be a bit better than my home made Atkins version, and the sugar alcohols don't effect me.
