Good article Trina.
You can't stop companies from following the snackwell plan. I almost hope the "fad" ends soon and people who follow one diet after another only to abandon it a few months later go on to the next quick weight loss diet. But some items are nice to have, like low carb tortillas and breads. But who needs low carb doughnuts.

I agree, Rob.

The way I figure it is, if some people jump on lc as the latest "thing", and find they like it and stick to it, then great. If they move on 'cause it isn't cool anymore, then they really weren't serious anyway.

I'm always happy to see new LC products come out so we have more choices. At the same time, I'm always trying to remind myself, "junk food is still junk food" regardless of carbs, calories, fats, or whatever.

Amen, Aderyn! That's something I've recently taught myself as well.

NO MATTER WHAT, the basics are always best...

Meats, good fats, veggies - PERIOD

LOL! I like the picture MarcieLynn!

Anyhow, this is going to be similiar to lowfat for a lot of folks. They'll sub the lowcarb donut for their regular donut, sub the lowcarb chips for their regular chips, and so on and so forth. What they won't do is learn to eat differently. And they'll moan and groan when the weight is slow to come off or they don't reap the health benefits many of us brag about.

Take my brother for instance. He finally started to eat this way and while its worked somewhat, it hasn't worked like he expected it to. Why? B/c he lives off lc junk food. He'll have a huge bowl of lc ice cream - at 4 net carbs a serving - not realizing that he has about 4 servings in his bowl and easy 700 calories there.

I do almost think it was better when this stuff didn't exsist. When if you wanted something sweet you had some strawberries or something. I think for those of us that have been on this journey for a long time, who have read the book, listened to the stories, made mistakes and learned from them, the products are a benefit. Its the rest of the people out there who follow this without knowing anything about it that's going to make this harder for the rest of us down the road.

Okay, end of rant. Not quite sure what got into me. I think its been a long day and I'm over cranky.

Bottom line is that the food processing industry (as well as the huge agribusiness conglomerates) will always have a SIGNIFICANT amount of power in the markets.

They have the political backing and the money to make sure that the average Joe will never return to the healthy eating - which MarcieLynn NAILED: meats, fish, vegetables and dairy.

Until Americans realize that ANY product that is processed or altered chemically for their consumption is NOT as healthy as a real, whole, natural foods, they will neither lose weight nor correct their health problems.

my two cents...
