    What this doesn't point out and should, is that fructose is the only sugar that is metabolized through the liver rather than the small intestine. Because of this, it is usually converted directly to fat storage rather than as an instant energy source. This is true of the sugar in fruit, as well, and is why I don't eat anything but small amounts of fruit and low sugar ones at that.

    I guess that is also why fructose has a lower impact on blood sugar. It doesn't go through the blood stream the same way that sucrose does.

    I've had a "thing" about all the new "low carb" foods coming out that contain HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup). Low carb ice cream in particular is hard to find without HFCS in it. I refuse to buy anything that contains the stuff and I've been letting the manufacturers know I won't be buying it and why. Maybe if enough of us do, they'll try to find a healthier alternative.
