| Well, I don't take too much issue with this particular article. I'm generally against most frankenfoods, including those hawked by Atkins "Nutritionals", since they are full of ingredients that give many of us blood sugar problems and/or bad results. I agree with you about the link to an earlier, 2003, article "The Truth About the Atkins Diet." That was a really misleading piece of bleep.

| As an Aussie - I can verify that Atkins does not appear to be widely supported here - NOTE - that is NOT me saying that! Whatever works for the individual has my support. It's always worth noting whom or what might be supporting various organisations? Naturally, one understands that CHOICE magazine is TOTALLY independent. Completely unrelated (of course) is the fact that the Australian government organisation of CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation) has now published their own diet guidelines. I understand the book is for SALE. |

| Also, There is a difference between the online version and the printed magazine. In the magazine the Spin doctors box is longer and is basically a diatribe against low carb eating (although it doesn't mention any plans by name). The material is copyrighted so I can't post it here.

| O drat - that would have been fun. Just checked your profile - your stats are very much like mine! I don't often go to Perth -although have a stepson there - I do own a house in Kalgoorlie though! |

| I'll assume your house in Kal is an investment property. Prices (buy or rent) are there better than those in Perth. Can't see why anyone would want to live there though (no beach, bl**dy hot or freezing cold). Beaches here are fabulous and you don't have to drive for an hour to get to them. And no mangroves.

| Haahahaa!!!! Long story on Kal - we're a gold mining family - probably enough said!!! Its actually in Boulder (even worse!) old historical miners cottage. I bought it originally to get my stepson out of a financial hole - but kind of like the idea of owning a slice of Aus mining history anyway. Agghhhh - yuk - mangroves = mossies = Ross River Fever! Ah - but I live on the Sunshine Coast - right on Marcus Beach - and NO 'Doctor' to belt in past Freeo to get me every afternoon! |

| Heya Maxibee - unfortunately - I couldn't see that pic - but I sure it WAS cheeky! http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshell.../australia.htm OK - look at the map on the url above. Look at the left side of Aus - Perth - that's where Dragon is from - now look at the righthand side - about halfway up - see Brisbane - a black dot above it - Noosa - that's me!! |

| I was reading fitness magazine over my lunch hour and found this article! Can you believe this? The article states that "Drastically cutting carbohydrates may lead to increased feelings of anger, tension, and depression -- a side effect some researchers have termed the "Atkins attitude."" This makes me want to lash out at someone! Here's the link! http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/fitne...640.xml&page=3 |

| It really is a silly article because it states in there that people need to eat fish. Well, you CAN eat fish in the Atkins diet and I probably get more Omega 3's than I used to when I was eating incorrectly. I really wish that these reporters would read the whole book and do more research before writing bad articles. |
