| Found this one. I've been doing this over 6 years and I've had no negative side effects.

| I sent them this one: http://springfield.news-leader.com/h...es-178442.html I'm also going to respond to the author. You should note that at the bottom of the article, there is a plug for.... HIS UPCOMING DIET BOOK! (No wonder he's hoping low carb is dead!) |

| hmmm well i DID agree with THIS quote in the article sheyla: " "They cannot sacrifice their vegetables for low-carb products. The products were formulated to make the lifestyle easier, not as a substitute for healthy eating habits," says Colette Heimowitz, a nutritionist for the Atkins " " |

| This was more the part of which I was talking: At a recent press conference at Washington's National Press Club, a number of people shared their stories of misery caused, in their minds, by the Atkins Diet and its brethren. There was the 53-year-old man who had no heart problems before he went on Atkins and then, after two and a half years on the diet and a loss of a significant amount of weight, suffered from heart disease and eventually had to have an angioplasty. There was a 51-year-old man whose cholesterol went from 160 to 158 on the Atkins Diet. And there was the obese teenager who dropped dead after using the diet to try and lose weight. One of the people speaking at the National Press Club, referring to the damage that the Atkins Diet had done to his health, said that he'd "made a deal with the devil for a 32-inch waist." But how can going from 160 cholestrol to 158 be bad for you? I mean, isn't that what you want to happen? But they also did bring out some good points...however, notice how they bring out the BAD points in the beginning? Sheyla |

| Has anyone seen the commercials for safediet.org, sponsored by the "Physicians for Responsible Medicine"? I wonder who's behind them, or what PAC? |

| The Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a branch of PETA, who believe that all humans should be vegans. They have been on a campaign against anything involving meat as human food for a long time. They hate low carbing.

| Thanks Ed - I had emailed a response to that article on the 11th and meant to post something here but life got in the way. This is what I wrote: Feb, 11 2005 If you follow a low carb diet CORRECTLY you eat a ton of vegetables. Yes, and even fruit. A typical day's menu for me includes a slice of tomato with my eggs and whole grain slice of toast with real butter, 3 cups romaine salad with radishes, cucumbers, tomato, maybe some marinated artichoke hearts and some celery. Dinner usually includes a large serving of a high fiber vegetable. 2 or 3 cups of broccoli is what I have as a serving. I eat 50 net carbs per day of carbohydrates which has averaged 23 grams of fiber. This means that I am consuming, on average, 73 grams of carbohydrate less the 23 grams of fiber. Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion. |
