| I've just completed my 1st trial month of lo-carb and figured I should share. My purpose was to see if the claims of health benefits really happened. Well...I have definitely seen improvement in my blood glucose levels. I have never been a regular checker because my A1c is always good when I go to the doctor but I have checked my fasting numbers, periodically, just to see how I'm doing. They used to run in the 130s and are now running below 120. I took a post-meal reading the other day and it was 94! I had nothing to compare it to but the fact that it was below 100 psyched me out! As for weight loss, I have consistently lost 2 lbs. per week since starting. I've been battling a rant for the past couple of days because, I think, the books set you up to expect faster losses. I know 2 lbs. a week is good but, when I see stories of almost a lb. a day, it's frustrating. I also had to face the fact that I'm not doing induction. I'm eating at a level I'm comfortable with and, if I can lose 2 lbs. a week and not have to track every tiny carb, then I'm happy!Anyway...that's been my month and I think I will keep on keepin' on! Thanks for all the wonderful info and support! |

| i vote success! and it's interesting that you're seeing health benefits in addition to slow, steady losses. on the rate of loss, i'll spare you my "many would be thrilled with 2 lbs a week" speil because i'm sure you don't wanna hear it. ![]() if we're talking atkins, the fastest losses are usually during the first week (where, as with for any program, there is a hunk of water weight to go right off the bat), for the people with the most to lose, during induction level eating. if you're consistently losing, you're feeling good and your medical indicators are improving, plus you're eating at a level you're comfortable with, then life's good. but go ahead and rant if it makes you happy. ![]() |
