Ginger. It takes awhile to get your routine developed. Then staying on plan gets a whole lot easier.

8 pounds?! That's great, Ginger!! I am so happy that you are having so much success with eating low-carb.

I don't know if we're allowed to recommend sites where you can buy low-carb friendly foods? I know on some sites it's a no-no.

I haven't tried the low-carb noodles. I was not much of a noodle eater when I was eating high-carb. My downfall was sweets and salty things.

I would say that you should try to keep it as natural as possible. Be careful of frankenfoods. They can not only cause you to stall, but they may be bad for your health in the long run. Just a suggestion.

For me the staples are meat, meat, and meat. :P I also always have butter, eggs, Tobasco sauce, Frank's red hot sauce, and various spices. I always keep it simple. I personally try not to buy anything processed. That's just a personal choice.

It's almost Friday!

Have a great weekend!

not a problem at all, sydney. if it's a site i have an affiliate account for, i might change the link so we get a percentage at lce, but that's it. mostly, i don't object to links unless someone appears to have signed up for the purpose of promoting another site, i.e. spam. but linking to stuff you found helpful is fine!

on the foods, it's a fine line, ginger. lots of so-called "Low carb" products are nothing but junk; however, having a few specialty ingredients can also make it a lot easier to lc you favorite recipes, too. so it's kind of a buyer be-aware kind of thing...

Ginger, I think the "miracle noodles" you are referring to are shirataki noodles. Here are a couple of links to threads discussing them:

KONJAC/SHIRATAKI NOODLE Article is now up!

Konjac Noodles Demystified | LowCarbEating

I use them in oriental dishes but not as a substitute for pasta in spaghetti type dishes. For those dishes, I use Dreamfield's pasta.

As far as other staples, you might want to consider a thickener like thick-n-thin not starch, or xanthan gum. Other staples will depend on the kinds of dishes you want to make.

Thanks so much, I will read the articles right now.. I did order from the site that Goddess suggested, just ordered a couple of things to try and see what we think of them. I have to find a way to cook with things that I can without just cooking meat... like I said before I can eat a little bit but not enough for a full diet.. I am on the first two weeks so you have to stick to it pretty closely... I just want to eat veggies and fruits so this is a BIG OLE change for me.. not because of any beliefs just because I don't care for meat...I made hot wings tonight that was great... just a touch of hot sauce on them with lo carb Italian dressing mixed together.. they were pretty good... still learning.. thanks for all the pointers..

My success for today was going to work and not pigging out. I work for a catering company on the weekend. We always have great food and some of it is low carb but most of it is not. Not to mention it is usually a wedding I am catering for and the groom and brides cake is very hard to pass up! But I did it! I only ate some cheese and the insides of a few chicken salad crossants! Drank water, no punch or sweet tea! Feels good to be in control and not let the food control me!
