Default Husband ate and enjoyed low carb meal

My husband is a carb and sugar fanatic. His favorite meal is gravy and bisquits.

But he had quite a health scare this week. He was having shortness of breath, burning in his upper chest, and weakness. When we took him to the doctor, the doctor, of course, suspected a pending heart attack, but also, said he thought Gary was anemic. He took a CBC STAT and insisted we go straight to the hospital.

They admitted him within 5 minutes of arrival and all ready had the resutls of the CBC

The nurse asked the usual questions, then asked if he had ever seen a stomach doctor. Seemed like an odd question since he was there for chest discomfort.

Turns out he had lost half of his blood volume due to internal bleeding from his esophogus. He had been bleeding for two weeks, but did not recognise the symptoms! Seems his doctor's orders of a full strength, uncoated aspirin a day, with iboprophen as needed for joint pain, and his non-stop drinking of diet cola had caused his esophagus to become raw and bleeding.

He had to have 3 units of blood!

He is home now and feeling much better. But that scare has made him more aware of his bad habits and made him at least willing to try to make some changes.

Today, I fixed him a low carb lunch and urged him to at least try some of it. He actually like it. YIPEE.

oh my goodness! i'm sorry to hear about your hubby's health scare. that sounds like quite an ordeal.

i'm glad to hear he liked what you fixed him, and that perhaps he'll be rethinking his dietary choices, which certainly sounds prudent. whew!

good luck!

Good for you and your hubby, Sandra! Nothing like a good, real food meal to make you feel good.

Hope the hubby is feeling better soon.
