http://www.mercola.com/2002/mar/13/h..._peroxide.htm# This is an article about a simple preventative. I've been doing it all week with the kids and myself and dd1, who already had it, never got very bad like she usually does and none of the rest of us have caught it. Maybe it will help others too

| Sharron, that is so interesting!! I have never heard of that before. I use HP as an oral rinse, and to disinfect cuts, but it would never occur to me to use it that way! I always get a cold when the seasons change (like right now!) and work with a bunch of college kids, who pass colds around like gossip, LOL. I am going to try this, and will report back. Thanks!

Sure Sharron, NOW you tell me. I just got over a cold. But it was only bad for a day or 2. It was the first one I had in I don't know how many years.

![]() I've learned/observed a couple of things that I'd thought I'd mention for anyone who is going to try this: 1. It really seems to bubble the most when you need it the most. I've observed that as the "threat" of the virus has diminished, the bubbling in my family's ears has as well. That is the indicator I've used to know whether or not to keep treating them. I've done it once or twice or more a day depending upon a. how active the virus was in the house, b. if they had symptoms. 2. This seems to be a biggie: I've not actually laid down to treat myself -- always been caring for my family, just trying to keep my head tipped and keep the HP in my ears. My family has all gotten/stayed well. Apparently treating myself that way was not sufficient, as I'm having some minor tickling in my throat. My ears had only been bubbling a few seconds doing it while continuing to work, etc. I laid down and did it this morning and after 10 minutes, it was still actively foaming on each side when I did them! I went ahead and did my "standard" stick-a-drop-of-oil-of-oregano-up-my-nose treatment ![]() Sorry you've been sick Rob, but maybe this will help for next time? |

I tried this on both myself and dd, as dh caught a cold from our sons. I didn't lay down, but I did tip my head for a couple of minutes. DD, I had lay down. I couldn't remember when I went to do it, how long to leave the stuff in there, so just did it for 2 minutes in each ear. I only had one side that "bubbled" , does that indicate that only one side "needed" it? I will have to read the article again..... Anyway, I am still progressing with the cold. I did not have any symptoms when I started it, but figured I would get it, since dh had it. Today, I have it. blech. I will re-read the article, and may give it another shot. Dd seems to be fine.

Yup, You are supposed to wait as long as 5 to 10 minutes. Maybe I didn't give it long enough. sigh.

how we did it cynthia, was left it in as long as it was fizzing. dd1 had the cold but never got bad because of doing this. I'm managing to keep it at bay even though I wasn't doing it correctly either

Sharron, I left it in for a good 15 minutes last pm, laid down and everything, didn't help. I feel like I have been run over with a truck this morning! But, my ears are nice and clean, lol.

That stinks :( You already had it bad, though, didn't you? I caught dd1s the first day -- it had hit fully, but wasn't BAD if you know what I mean. Last night I switched to sticking oil of oregano in my ears instead because the HP was actually starting to hurt. I've been doing it (wrong!) for a week now. Ack. The OO is not for the faint of heart though. I am hoping to keep it at bay -- usually do with just sticking it in my nostrils (even less for the faint of heart Do you have any OO? You can rub it on your chest and behind your ears. It feels really nice

I did the OO in ears and nose for the rest of the week. The only symptoms I had was a slightly drippy nose and sneezing. I'm glad I found out about the ear principle :great:

Nah, no OO for me! I was pretty out of it most of the week, got through the work day by using DayQuil pills. I was able to get lots of sleep tho, and I think that helped. I still have some congestion issues, but am on the mend. Finally.
