| I am seriously thinking of having a tummy tuck when I get to my goal weight. After having 3 kids, the stretch marks are incredibly scary and the skin is so damaged it will never go back. Any opinions? Has anyone had one done? Costs? I would really like to do it for myself. I do a lot of exercise and for me it would be the culmination of a lot of hard work, not just a quick fix. Has anyone had success doing something else about serious stretchmarks? Thanks! |

| I'm a big fan of the sugery shows on TV, not the makeover ones like The Swan or Extreme Makeover but the one on TLC, Bodywork with real life people and I do love Dr. 90210 with the Californians. I've seen some tummy tucks on there and have decided that if I reach goal weight and maintain for a year I will have one. Being this weight for 20 years I don't think my skin will ever be normal looking. So I guess I should start saving now because I heard they can be pricey and it might take me 6 years to save for it. I think the most important thing is to research your doctors to be sure you are getting the best one. There was just a story on the news a couple days ago about the doctors that decide to do plastic surgery and don't have the specialized training and cause serious harm. They don't have to be anything other than a medical doctor to do the procedures but you should get one that is a board certified plastic surgeon. I am interested to know the results if you do it though. I already have a c-section scar so that part doesn't bother me.

| Hi Cushie, I am also a big fan of those types of shows. So, you are familiar with the phrase, 'skin has no memory', right? Mine sure doesn't. I earned those stretchmarks, in part by gaining over 30 lbs with each pregnancy, that's for sure, but I would love to have a tummy tuck as the end of my long weight journey. I am considering going to have a consult with a well-known plastic surgeon here in Lisbon, just to see what he says. When I do, I will get back to you. I do know they want you to lose all the weight first. Good luck on your Halloween challenge! I am part of that too, but not much movement of late! |
