well.. it is offical.. today we had our first snow fall... nothing measureable.. it was pretty.. but ohh im not looking forward to this winter... suposdly to be a BAD one but they say that every year.. I will consider it bad when im snowed in for more than 1 day.. and my kid dont have school for more than 3 days at a time.. then its heading to the bad side...

They threatened us with the "s" word for yesterday evening, but it stayed just shy of freezing and we had some rain, instead.

***sigh*** I'm not looking forward to this winter.

EEEEK!!! You had snow?!

I am SO not ready for snow.

It's been really cold at night lately; I guess it's just a matter of time.

If it's got to be cold anyway I'd like some snow this winter. It snows here once or twice a winter usually. Some years we've had absolutely none other years 4 or more. So It's a treat for me. The best part down here is it's compkletely gone2 or 3 days later. Of course no one here knows how to drive in snow and they close the schools for 1/2 an inch or even prediction of that amount. I'm serious. The funniest part is when all the bread and milk is gone from the stores because they predicted 3 inches of snow.

yikkes.... snow and it is only the middle of october.... boy am i ever glad I moved south almost 30 years ago...(grew up in new jersey)... Rob.. I had to laugh, here in texas they also close down schools at 1/2 " and the people here don't know what to do when it snows.... driving ..... they sand the roads instead of salting them.... so you have sand over freezing ice.... not very good....
We are having very humid 79 degree this am when I left for work, should be in the mid to upper 80's today....still its a lot better than 100 plus....

wow that little story was ohh to fimular.. i rember about 5-6 yrs ago we had a pretty harsh winter.. lots and lots of snow.. i lived back on a private road and we had to pay a guy to come plow the road.. and i swore he waited till i finaly dug both cars out (i put it on the road.. then push it over the edge when done.. (none ever drove threw the road it seemd so i thought i was safe... ) i think 3 times that winter i had just finished pushing it all on to the road.. and he came flying up the road and pushed it all back in on top of the cars..grr...
now where i live.. snow plow comes befor drive way is taken careof.. but it usualy makes it ust that much harder to do anything.. and well driveway slopes down towards the house.. so.. no getting a way we can just push out of the drive way.. lil its more like pull me out.. 3 times last winter they closed our road just past my house.. befor you get to second house... we had a lady w/ 2 little kids in her car not know it was closed (obiiously they didnt put sighns up they just didnt plow..) get stuck BAD and her car shut off.. it was 11 pm.. needless to say i had kidos in my house LATE.. anyway.. gota love winter!

I grew up in North Dakota just 35 miles south of Canada and anywhere is better than there when it comes to snow. I always think that the kids here get so many days off during the school year (spring break, fall break) and we never did, but then I remember the 20 "snow days" we had built into every school year and every year we used them all. If not for snow then for it being -40 with a -90 windchill, too cold to risk getting the kids on the school bus and driving 11 miles.

I love the Denver winter. Just enough snow to make it winter. But it usually melts with in a week. OK so we have the occassional blizzard, but even the year we got 36" in two days it was like 60's the next week. What a slushy mess!

No snow yet here. Maybe this weekend we'll get a little at night, but it'll be in the 50's during the day so if it does it won't be around long.

Lou - LOL - great diary. Remind me never to move to Canada or Alaska.. BUT... I LOVE snow....probably because we get so little... couple inches every year or so...but the moutains surround us on three sides and are incredible through June! We had the best Christmas last year - rented a cabin in the snow about an hour from here - went sledding with the grandkids. Love the snow - everything in moderation, of course.

Tonight we're having thunderstorms - love it...wish I had a nice fireplace.

a true snow story... some of my grandkids live in Mississippi.. and was unfamiliar with snow.. They came up to visit me one winter, and walla... we got snow here in Ohio. The youngest, who was about 8 at the time wanted to build a snow man.. (of course!) My son took him outside, and they built one... then the 8 year old wanted a black hat, and a corncob nose,.. and etc.. you get the picture... My son told him "I know what you're thinking, but it isnt gona work. ".. needless to say, the 8 year old insisted, so we came up with the closest facimilie to what he needed. That boy cried for hours cause that snowman wouldn't move!

I agree with Cushie, I love winters here in Denver. In fact, I moved up here from Southern AZ because after going to university in Flagstaff, I couldn't take the hot weather anymore. Thanks, Cushie, for reminding me of that spring blizzard a few years back! LOL, that was the only time my law firm had to eat their words that we would "never have a snow day." Poor DH, after nearly a whole day spent shoveling the walks, he thought he was done until we turned on the news and saw that the flat roofs on buildings were collapsing. Our kitchen is a one story wing on the back of our house with a flat roof, so he had to crawl out of one of the back bedroom windows and clear about 24" of snow off of it. Meanwhile, I had to go around with a broom and try to knock as much snow as I could from the trees throughout the storm so that the limbs wouldn't break. Those late spring storms are heck on trees that are starting to bud or leaf out.

i posted pictures of what it looked like in the winter at my home last year... i hope it doesnt snow as much this year... honeymoon is DEFINITELY not up to all that plowing and shoveling... we even hired people to do it for us most of the winter last year (he had his FIVE bi pass surgury last november...)
we had to hire people to plow the business parking lot SEVERAL times as well... (not to mention us shoveling the ramp MANY many MANY times..:-(

that being said.. i LOVE snow.. (as long as i dont have to WALK in it.. DRIVE in it.. or SHOVEL it.)
