| Did anyone else watch this? Basically, two teams of overweight/obese men and women were divided into 2 team of equal weight and given a diet and a trainer. They had to compete to see which team, through diet and exercise, could lose the most weight in one week. The losing team would then have to vote off one member. I like the fact that both the Eat More diet looked pretty healthy and was supposed to be low carb. I like the fact that the Eat Less diet looked pretty healthy and was supposed to be low carb. I didn't like the fact that that one woman was crying and complaining about being hungry. They didn't seem to be getting alot of guidance about what they needed to eat. The one guy was eating a popsicle....was it S/F? I would surely hope so! Anyway, I hope they learn to eat low carb the right way....you don't hear any of us crying about being hungry! LOL!

| Maxibee - I saw the last part of it - I didn't like the fact the the "leanest" looking guy on the losing team lost the most weight - go figure! And I was pleased that Dana who was dropped went on to lose 15 more pounds. Good for her! Worst part - next week the contestants are forced to make sweets that they can't eat - seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. How much do they get paid for this anyway??? Karen

| I watched this show too. I think they lowered the weights a little bit. Maybe I have just lost all concept of what one may weigh but these people looked really hefty to only weigh 175 to 230 pounds. Did this strike anyone else this way. I mean unless they are all very very short I would have thought that most of them weighed more than it showed. Karen the winner gets $250,000.00 so to whoever wins yeah it would be worth it. I guess the weight loss and getting healthier would be worth it to me. I need a trainer like that woman. She is tuff as nails isn't she! |

| Taxgirl, yeah, I thought they looked heavier than the weight we were told. Especially the one lady who weighed 167 to begin with. I am hovering around 175- 180, @ 5'6", and she looked waaay heavier, flabbier than I am. I was wondering if maybe she is really shorter than she looks? Maxibee, I also really liked the fact that both "diets" are low carb. I wonder why they aren't being given more guidance on what to eat? Seems like at the least they could have a list of "allowable" foods to choose from when the trainer is not right there. It is an interesting concept for a show, tho I can't help feeling that it is a diet spin-off of Survivor, lol. I find myself really hoping that those "voted off" continue with the progress that they have made. We know personally how they feel, induction cravings and all, don't we? It is so great to see their shocked faces when they saw how much weight came off in that first week, tho I hope they aren't too dissappointed when the loss slows a bit..... |

| I too found it an interesting show - but would rather they didn't vote people off - it's hard enough to lose weight without MORE negative reinforcement. DO keep in mind that the camera adds pounds - I think that's why the weights and the way people looked didn't seem to match.

| Umm, I've been out of the country for some time now. They actually have a reality show to see who loses the most weight???? And part of their tasks are to make sweets that they can't eat? Ummm,...sounds needlessly cruel. It sounds like a lot of negativity. How do y'all feel about this?

| My boss, a fellow low carber, made a comment about the Temptation Refrigerators. She said she thought that was mean spirited.....my take: we're all living in the real world, baby! I personally HAVE to drive directly by a Krispy Kreme donut shop EVERY morning at work. And that early, the Hot Light is ALWAYS on and you can smell them....so I don't have an ounce of sympathy for any of those people! No way. And being in the running for $250 G's.....PUHLEEEAAAASE!! There ain't no way I'd jeopardize my chances of getting THAT! As far as the baking and selling, more of the same: conditioning for living in the real world....where the coffee/pastry cart rolls by every morning, the kid's school is close to Mc Donalds.....Hey, I work for a coffee/vending company. That means I touch alot of junk food every day. (It's all about choices, people.) I carry my little cooler in my van with me. Imagine me, driving down the road, dipping celery into shrimp dip, with thousands of dollars worth of sugary crap not a foot away from me. I do it every day. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can. I was raised in a strict household and love the Dr.Phil approach to life:if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. Take responsibility for your life. It's their version of tough love, and it makes for good T.V. Heck, if they put those people somewhere all holed up with just salad fixins and that tough trainer, they'd all lose alot of weight....but would they be prepared to keep it off once they got back home?

| Okay, I'm jumpin on board here. I finally got to watch the program that I taped. VERY interesting. I think I'll be hooked. I used to watch "Last Comic Standing" in that time slot. I was thinking the same thing about how cruel it is to put all that stuff in front of them for temptation purposes, but Maxi, I have to agree with you. I think they are trying to teach them some self-control. But they should add that stuff later after they get over the craving stage. We have the luxury of clearing all that crap out of our cupboards in our own homes. At least that's what I did when I first started LCing. I just couldn't have my downfall foods in the house in the beginning. I think I'm gonna like this show. (somebody put a muzzle on that woman who's whining all the time. )

| Rob! I too have interest in this show. At first I wasn't sure if it would be interesting or not, but it sure has potential. What was with that guy in the beginning scarfing down that donut, when they were showing them what they'd eaten in the previous week? And I'm with you on the woman whining - drives me crazy! |

| LOL Rob!!!! That reminds me of the episode on "Friends" when Monica was "fat" and they were watching a tape of her. She said the camera added pounds and Chandler asked the same question, "How MANY cameras were on you?" TOO funny. Man, I've lost some of my fave shows due to ending series, but they keep adding new ones to take their place. I'm now a "LOST" addict too!!!!!! Ah well, it's entertaining!!!!!

| What did you think about tonights? They really had a blow when they saw their loses stop! I was just hoping someone would explain to them the reversal with all that exercise, and all the water loss. Thank goodness they did - I just worried about their attitudes toward it after that. We can all understand how frustrating that is at first... |

| I only got to catch a few minutes of the show tonight then the local station had problems so I ended up turning it off. Before checking this "column" tonight DH said same as Maxibee - have to live in the real world - baking junk food is helping them learn to cope. I agree to a point (Maxibee - I loved your response!). Yet my world is very limited. The closest I get to junk is when I grocery shop. As long as I'm commited to this woe then the temptation is minimal or gone. The past few months have been that way - I finally feel very commited. I used to work for a chocolate bakery company (similar to Godiva chocolates, candies and cakes) - I was the personnel administrator - had to walk through the bakery often - this was about 13 years ago. Never once touched the chocolates there because I knew that once I started there was no stopping me - also they weren't put out for sampling and I never asked. But making the stuff - handling raw ingredients with your hands, would be more like working in the krispy kreme shop making donuts in the morning rather than just driving by. Too much for me! Anyone have input on tonights show? Karen

| Darn, I meant to watch the show. I did see that it's also on USA the Saturday following. I didn't notice that until the end of last weeks show though so I still didn't get to see the first show all the way through. Well, I'll try and catch it Saturday night.

| Raw cookie dough and frosting would've been too much for me. My team would've lost half their money, 'cuz I know I would've sampled something! LOL! Oh, I don't know, I mean, knowing there are cameras everywhere and knowing how quickly I can gain from eating just a little sugar, and dreaming of a possible $250,000 prize may have kept me on the straight and narrow! Inspiration and motive. I KNEW they would not have the huge losses they had last week. I kept yelling: "you're gaining muscle, you're gaining muscle!" the whole time they were weighing. I wonder if they REALLY thought they were going to lose 10-20 pounds per week. If that's possible, I'd be at the "fat farm" tomorrow, spend a month there, and be at my goal weight in 4 weeks! Next week's "eviction" is supposed to be a shocker....DH thinks it's going to be the guy with the longer hair and the headband on the blue team. I think Maurice may be going. I'd just like to know how these people get so much time off their jobs to spend on these reality shows. Okay, so the reality shows pay them something, but you gotta go back to work sometime, right? The whiney woman on the red team didn't seem so whiney this time. The guy on her team that's the jokester is a jerk. Some things just aren't funny. Have a little cl**** dude!
