| Its really scarry when I start hearing that in my head and I WANT to listen. LIES, LIES, LIES they only lead me to sorrow, frustration and self-condemnation when I give in. Karen

| I have found that if you really assert yourself when telling people no and state why, they listen and never ask again. People who used to be almost like "pushers" now say to me, "that's right, you don't eat sugar". I just keep my confident attitide and I get no grief.

| Some people are too think headed to listen though. I have learned to ignore them and move on. But I guarantee after all my talking about this WOE for the last two and a half months the ladies here will still tell me to have some pie when we have the next birthday party in November. It's just their generation. They are food pushers all the way!

| For some reason, I find if I say "I avoid sugar and white flour" I get a better response (i.e., they leave me alone) than if I say "I eat low-carb." I think people have been educated enough to suspect that less sugar and white flour just might be a healthy way to eat, but they're still having a hard time making the jump to that being low-carb (probably from all the bad PR). | I have found that even at restaurants if I tell them I can't have sugar--they oblige, but still suggest a dessert if I ask for a low carb meal. Like somehow, the two aren't connected! Though I bet a lot of people avoiding sugar for whatever reason don't get hassled about dessert and that is why they don't suggest it if I make it clear that I don't eat sugar. AT work everyone knows and doesn't even suggest anymore after 10 months and seeing what is has done for me. . .but at family things it is harder--my grandmother insists everyone eat dessert. . .she seems to think you are sick if you don't! She is also 80! I usually eat a few bites or take half a piece of whatever then share it with DD. HEHEHE. . .I have also taken my own dessert to her house and eaten only mine. YOu do what works for you!

| It's funny, the men at work are more supportive than the women right now. I was going out to get lunch and said that I could probably find something at the palce they wanted food from and the one said "no you've done such a good job, don't let our bad habits bring you down". That was nice. I think everyone will get better, like with husker, after 10 months (hopefully sooner) they'll see what I have done adn not want to tempt me in nay way.

| Whenever someone tells me they are vegetarian, the first thing I ask is "do you eat jello?" I always want to test their resolve. Also I don't think a lot of people realize what gelatin is made from. Though there is now vegan gelatin. We are having a party at the office this Friday, another birthday party. The lady said, well, this is Noel's only chance to have pie. And I said no I'll bring something for myself. So I am making the mock danish with some blueberries over the top. People really think you can just hop on and off this plan like that. I said if I ate the pie it would take me three days (at least) to get my system back on line. I don't want to do that. Especially when I like the cream cheese taste bettr anyhow.

| I don't know AR, that's a really good question. The worst is when I politely decline what is offered to me and they look at me with this hurt expression like I just kicked their puppy or something. Ahh, the ole guilt trip trap. Fortunately, guilt-tripping me doesn't work anymore because I just don't fall for it like I used to.

| I think also that people like to feel justified with what THEY are eating. If someone refuses it because they know it's unhealthy, it makes them feel guilty. But if EVERYONE eats it, they are off the hook and don't have to feel that guilt. In reality, they should feel guilty for trying to sabotage you. Weird human psychology.
