Default Something to warm your heart...

In Japan, it is in keeping with the status quo that when one goes on a trip of somesort (be it business or vacation) they must return to their workplace with omiyage, or a souveneir of where they have been. These omiyage are usually individually wrapped little cookies, mini cakes, or somesort of traditional Japanese treat that are distributed to the people at the workplace. It is, in essence, a way of saying "I apologize for the inconvenience of my absence."

You can imagine how this would interfere with my low carb eating.

A group of students and teachers recently returned from a class trip to Okinawa. One of the teachers knew I was not able to eat sweets, and as such, she purchased a special, non-food related omiyage for me. It was a little set of Japanese handmade paper and envelopes (GORGEOUS!). I was absolutely floored! The kindness of her actions just stunned me (actually I shouldn't have been suprised, ...she has ALWAYS been so gracious and lovely!).

Kinda reminded me of the time, about 11 years ago when I was on Weight Watchers, and on Valentine's Day my dad bought me a CD instead of chocolates!!! (Of course I ended up eating someone else's chocolates anyway, but it's the thought that counts, right???? )

I just wanted to share "an act of random kindness and senseless beauty!"

hugs to everyone!

How sweet AND thoughtful!

Sometimes we forget that there ARE still kind people out there...the news would have you believe otherwise for sure.

You're lucky to have such a nice person in your life, and she to have YOU!

there are NOTHING that compare to random acts of kindness..
when i was the mgr of a clothing store here in town i LOVED to surprise the employees with things..
a surprised flower arrangement..
a card that said they were special or that they did a great job..
some cute little thing picked up from the antique/espresso shoppe where i bought everyone latte's everyday..(sometimes MORE than once a day..) something that just SHOUTED their name for whatever reason..
i STILL do this sort of thing.. but it is with my family now.. because we have a family business..
of course its ALWAYS great when I get something from my girls now.. or honeymoon.. they have inherited that from me...

my boss and fellow employees used to be amazed that it wasnt an OCCASION when my girls or husband came in with something for me "just because" it called my name to them..

holidays are okay... but random UNEXPECTED gifts from the heart for NO REASON AT ALL other than you are SPECIAL to someone... ahhhhhhhhhhhh nothing can match those moments..
