| Mine is to get some REGULAR exercise - I'm good for a week or two and then something happens and I talk myself out of it - this week I have a cold. Who can exercise with a COLD for pity's sake?! 3 x a week would be really an accomplishment. Char

| LOL @ Noel! Last year I resolved to completely clean and organize my basement. (or was that from the year before?) Anyway, it still ain't done. ![]() So this year, I resolve NOT to clean and organize my basement. Contrarian that I am, perhaps I can reverse psych myself.

| This year I resolve to get rid of some of the household clutter so that I can turn the miniature (9x10) "spare" bedroom (aka: office, darkroom, storage room, craft room) into a cozy little "family" room for myself and my son. The tricky part will be finding a spot for all the junk...uh stuff...(good stuff) that's in there. And if I get that done, I might resolve to start clearing junk out of the garage. I used to be a craft-a-holic. But that was when I was a stay-at-home mom. Now, that I'm the breadwinner of the family, there's hardly enough time to relax then sleep before going to work the next day, much less time for quilting, baking, crafting, sewing and other fun "ings." Problem is, I just can't seem to get rid of the stuff even though I know I'll never use it.

| I did that with all my old clothes--if it doesn't fit it isn't in my closet anymore--it isn't even in my house anymore--in all 6 33gallon garbage bags of stuff left my house in various boxes and bags and all...what I have left is stuff I actually wear and my new winter wardrobe! DD's room is only about 3/4 as full as it was last year before Christmas and the storage room is about 1/2 as full--I want tog et rid of the rest of the toys and games and all that she has outgrown and make room for the new ones that she is really into at this point...don't know that it will happen but it is more likely since I got on a clean it out kick than before!

| believe it or not my BIGGEST chore was cleaning out my kitchen CUPBOARDS... they were a pit of scary stuff i never use but HAD to keep... i gave daughter #1 about 5 big storage tubs with lids... she threw out a ton..(one scary old tupperware yellowed container with pinto beans had honeymoon up in arms and searching the trash bins for..*L*) i ended up with a decision to go through one of the tubs a week to even cut it down even MORE... ended up paring down to 4 or 5 SHOEBOX size containers ot the junk i STILL wouldnt part with... and one compartmentalized containr that i put all the screws .. nails.. parts ect that i didnt have an IMMEDIATE use for... i put the rubber liner on all the cupboard shelves... got a new silverware container for drawer and used old one for other utensils that fit in it.. i have stacked the clear shoebox containers and spare part container in the lower cupboard .... i bought a new tall spice rack with new spices in cute jars... threw all the ones that were OLD DUPES out... i hung almost ALL my coffee mug collection that i actually USE.. that freed up alot of space.. put pans in an old tv cart with glass doors that i put a coodinating tile top on (thanks dix for the CAN DO attitude) and put the HUGE george forman grill on it... so i can swing it into the cooking area when needed and back into a corner when not.. i have bought new bigger wheels that can be locked into place so it can be used like a little island in my long narrow kitchen... tv cart/new island also has a locking (with key) drawer in the bottom which i have put all honeymoons tools that I USE all the time so that they are accessable but out of danger for baby... all THIS from the queen of clutter..*L* MISSION ORGANIZATION rocks! |

| 1. To finally finish stripping the woodwork in my bathroom (I started it over six years ago!) so that it can all be repainted and get the wall above the wainscotting papered. 2. Gut the kitchen so that the particle board that some genius laid down as a sub-floor can be pulled up and replaced so that we can finally get some decent cabinets put in. (For those unfamilar with particle board, the stuff swells when it gets wet and stays that way, causing the kitchen floor to be very uneven.) 3. Last but not least, tighten our belts and get the roof replaced. Yep, as far as I'm concerned, 2005 is going to be the year we finally get the house projects all finished. (Well, as finished as an 1890 house will permit. There's always something that needs to be done.)

| 2005 resolutions: Look for a real job. I will not buy something new unless something old, of equal size, gets moved out. Tackle more deferred maintenance around the house! I got a lot done this year, but that just opened my eyes to how much more there is to do. A just a few specifics: - Finish painting the interior - Replant around the foundation - Replace or repaint gutters - Resurface the back porch, - Repair/replace ceiling fans - Re-organize the office, fix the gd home network, - Replace fencing, - Hold quarterly yard sales (despite holding 3 yard sales this fall, my garage and workshop room are still overflowing with two generations worth of clutter). And if it doesn't sell.... - Donate, recycle, or pitch out whatever's left over (just 'cuz it's antique doesn't mean anyone wants to pay money for it!) Even though I cleaned out my closets this year, they are full to overflowing again (not just clothes - hobby stuff, cleaning equipment, backpacks, sporting equipment, momentos, etc.). So, this year, clean them out again!
