What's your funny message on your answering machine? Just thought it would be fun to see what funny messages people have on their answering machines! (& give people some good ideas!)
On ours:
My daughter recorded this message:
"Hello?" (waits & then says) "Speak up! I can't hear you!" Then she waits a minute and laughs and then says, "you have reached (our phone number), after the sound of the beep please leave your name & number....." We get quite a few messages where people are laughing saying, "oh, that was cruel. I fell for it!"

This is a message that I LEFT on a friend's machine one time. (I had planned it and called her when I knew she'd be out). It went like this: (with a funny accent)
(her name), (her name), where you be?
get on this line, woman, talk to me!
I's lookin' for some company today,
Oh well, guess I'll be on my way!
When you'ins gets this tune,
Call me back now ya hear, real soon?
She later left me a funny message back also in a rhyme.

Re: What's your funny message on your answering machine? I was so lazy when we got the new machine that I left the robotic voice telling ya to leave a message. Seems to work just fine.

Re: What's your funny message on your answering machine? We had one a while back that said...in DHs voice--We aren't home right now, we went to the zoo to feed the elephants! (SLAP sound)! OUCH! Oh, I mean we are taking my Mother-in-Law to lunch! My mom thought it was hilarious...the only MOther-in-law between us since his mother died of cancer just after we were married.
Re: What's your funny message on your answering machine? I left the male-sounding robotic voice on mine, and now my mother refuses to leave messages because "some strange man answered your phone." I've tried to explain it to her, and I've tried to explain that even if it WERE some strange man, it's not like he's answering live at the moment, but no go. When I get a hang-up, I know it's time to call Mom!

I HATE those messages where it SOUNDS as if someone picks up - I work in a doctors' office and I have to call every patient on the schedule for the next day to remind them of their appointment. Those messages drive me nuts. Also the ones where somebody lets their LITTLE kid do it - you can't understand it and it's just inane.
OK, off soapbox!
Our phone number is very close to a local restaurant. We get calls for said restaurant frequently. So my outgoing message says, "You have reached the 'x' residence at 'x' phone number, if you have a message for the 'x' family please leave it after the tone." We STILL get messages saying "I'd like to make reservations for 6 pm tonight..." Makes me wonder what happens when they show up at the restaurant!

I moved my answering machine and when I did I was too lazy to rerecord the message. So now people get a generic "please leave message after tone" greeting. Cellphone and voicemail greetings at work are my own voice, but just as boring.
Aderyn: Your son has good taste in ring/answer tones. I LOVE Pink Floyd.
My son got a fancy new cell phone where he can program in different songs for different people. For instance, when I call him, instead of hearing the phone "ring," I get the Ramones "I Want to Be Sedated." (he let me pick what I wanted to listen to when I called). He also has a separate ring tone at his end for each of the people programmed into his phone. He knows it's me calling when hears Lonestar's "From my Front Porch Looking In." He associates that one with home, I think, 1) because I love contemporary country and 2) because his little brother (8 years younger) was a carrot top with a sippy cup...many moons ago. My "baby" is now 17, but he and older brother are very close.

Re: What's your funny message on your answering machine? Here's a couple that I read about. I thought they were really cute. I wouldn't mind using them sometime!
1st one:
"Hi you've reached (name). I'm probably digging through the bottom of my purse like mad right now trying to find my phone or I forgot to charge the stupid battery again. Regardless, please leave a message after the tone and I'll return your call as soon as I get whichever situation I'm in resolved. "
2nd one:
"You have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be recorded and used by me for my amusement."

It was "This is you know who; we're not you know where; so leave a message at the sound of the you know what. We'll call back you know when"
Now we are just generic...LOL
