Talking Dragon Support Group - REALLY OT

... no, it has nothing to do with "dragon breath"

This is a place for those of us who are dragons, dragon lovers or lovers of dragon lovers.

I noticed that Dragonmom and I shared a name - we're both mothers of major dragons/wyrms. I'm "wyrmsmom" at my .mac address. I took that name because my son, Webwyrm, has been a dragon lover ever since about the time he outgrew dinosaurs. A locally renowned D&D dungeon master, he progressed to being a major computer RPG gamer, beta tester and guild leader, and I enjoyed haunting his gaming boards with my "wyrmsmom" identity, reminding him to "call his mother" and getting his fellow gamers to join in harassing him.

I'm a dragon lover in my own right - having killed diablo several times, once on each level (three red dots over my best character on the battlenet last time I checked in.)

It turns out that Barb is also a dragon lover supporter in that her DH is also a D&D participant.

I chose a logo for the thread, but I'm not going to reduce it (or replace it) with a siggy sized logo, since most of us are carrying enough of them around with us and, besides, it has nothing to with the focus of this board. LOL! ... other than the dragon breath connection.

So, tell us about your dragon connections, if any.

Sounds possible, Char! ... which must make me a quadruple dragon supporter, I guess. Mother of wyrm, diablo slayer in my own right, occasional bearer of dragon breath and, yes, I've been called that myself at work from time to time.

Maggie, you're crackin me AND Rick up. He now officially wants to meet you too!!!!!!

Char, I think that would count!!! LOL

Has anyone ever gotten up in the morning and their a** is dragon??????

I can tell this is going to be a fun thread. DS-S and Rick are sitting here planning our next D&D game right now. I'm going to play a bad-a** warrior woman with incredible strength. It's going to be fun.

If you or anyone in your family like to collect dragons, checkout www.spawn.com. McFarlane is coming out with some UNbelievable dragon figures supposedle in January. We haven't found any yet. They have pictures of the sculptures up ont he website and they look AWESOME!!!!! Can't wait to add those to the collection. the site is a little hard to navigate so here's a link to the dragon page: McFarlane Dragons

I myself am into faeries. and we both like the artwork of Boris Vallejo. Nice graphic there Maggie!!!!!

Barb, that is soooo cool! My son's girlfriend is into faeries as well. We got her the cutest little pewter statue of a faerie sitting on a big mushroom. We have gotten alot of pewter dragons from the Shirley Pewter They also carry the Tudor Mint pieces. Love those! We're going to have to check out that web site as we are always looking for new cool stuff. Dragonboy has gotten alot from a catalog called Toscano. They have some really neat reisin (sp?) dragon things. You might check that web site as well if you haven't seen it already.

I'm not into the gaming myself, but love the dragons, and things relating to that fantasy stuff. (I have a guillotine, wizards, and dragons in my office at work)

Maggie, I love that picture! Dragonboy is going to make a avatar for me with a dragon as soon as I decide which one to get. And I've been called Dragon Lady a time or two myself.( among other things!)

Welcome Rhalvahn!!!! We have met Larry Elmore a couple of times at the gaming conventions when it was hosted in Milwaukee (GenCon) and have a numbered, autographed print of his entitled, "Story Teller". It's a black and white print and I had it framed with a silverish, celtic looking frame. It's a busy print with lots going on, but it has a skull, a druidic looking woman, a huge Raven, a wolf (I'm REALLY into wolves too!!!!) and lots of little hidden stuff. It's a very cool print. We used to frequent the convention and have met many of the D&D/Dragonlance artists.........Clyde Caldwell, Jeff Easley and Michael Whelan to name a few. They are incredible artists. Clyde does incredible gems, Jeff does incredible fire and Michael does unbelievable gargoyles. They are nice guys too!!!!!

Lauri, aren't those dragons enough to make you drool all over your keyboard????? did you click on the enlarged photos of them??? They are sublime!!!!

LOL Maggie...........we'll find more!!!!!

This is toooooooo fun!!!!!!!

Hey, I just remembered my brother was a big D & D fan when he was stationed in Alaska. Don't think he plays anymore, but I'll have to check on that.

We don't know how big the new McFarlane dragon figures are, haven't found any yet. They are a new release for this month, so they probably aren't even in the stores yet. (We're guessing the store won't have them until at least the middle of the month.) We checked out Gamers Paradise, Games Plus, Hot Topic, Toys R Us and KB Toys. No one had any yet. But if they follow the lines of all the other McFarlane "toys" they should range between 6"-12". I just bought a REALLY cool Gandolf-the-White, an 11", articulated figure. The likeness of it to Ian McKellan is remarkable. I'm even going to dress him up for next Christmas with a Santa hat and some furry embellishments. LOL. I still have my christmas stuff up and he's standing near some of it and he goes soooooooo well with it all!!!! And guess what the price was????? $9.99!!!!!! @ Toys R Us. It has long flowing, albeit plastic, or more like rubber, robes. He's the COOLEST!!!!! (I LOVE Gandolf--even had a white pet rat named after him in the early '90's.) Don't know if you have any of these stores around you, but any store you can find action figures at should carry the dragons.

Me to Maggie! There is a Hot Topic across the river, so next time we go over, that will have to be a stop. the dragonboy's girlfriend (size 0, and three inches tall darnit!)loves that place, as do lots of nieces (can we say gift certificates!) But I could do without some of the freaky sales people...too many piercings!! I mean really, three rings through the lips is quite enough. That's all I have (just kidding!)

LOL my DD likes that store too. Although, I think she's outgrown "the look" somewhat. She wanted to get EVERYTHING pierced when she was about 14. I said, "N-O!!!!! Not until you are 18!!!!" Well............she only has one hole in each ear so far and she's now 20. Funny how their tastes change as they mature. When Rick and I played Vampire (about that long ago) most of the kids that played had the "Hot Topic" look. That was fine for the look of the game (Live Action RPG) and they were nice kids, they just looked a little creepy. But then again.........I dressed up for game and looked pretty bizzaro myself. But that ended after game-it wasn't my "usual " look. One character I played had the ability to change her appearance. She started out as a prom queen type (and talked like Judy Tenuda) then became a punk-biker chic, complete with a pierced nose. (I had a fake nose ring) It was fun. One night when I was doing the punk-biker look we were driving home at about 1 AM and got pulled over just as we were entering our town. ( Quickly pulled out my nose ring and was thankful I had a hat on covering up my spiked hair.) The cop stuck his head IN the window (It was winter) and asked Rick if he knew why he pulled us over. Rick was like.........."'cuz I was going a little over the speed limit???" And the cop said, "No I smell marijuana." We had both just been smoking cigarettes, but NOT POT!!!!!! He didn't smell it after he stuck his head inside our car, so he had nuthin' and let us go. We hadn't even had any cocktails. It's a pretty funny story and we told everyone we knew. They were like........"YOU GUYS????? HA!!! Yea, right!!!" Neither one of us has touched the stuff since LONG before we were married. It's tooooo funny!!!!

Aren't those dragons just amazing, Maggie? McFarlane has really set the bar high for those types of "toys." Can't wait until they are out in the stores. I wonder if they will move them from "Coming Soon" status on the site to "In Stores NOW". That might give us a clue when they've begun to distribute them. Can't wait!!!!!
