Need a little tech help here...

Broke down and reformatted the computer last week. It was our fault... let Norton LiveUpdate lapse, so eventually got innundated with popups, and programs that were put on to try and get you to connect to the internet all the time.

So now we've got Norton LiveUpdate back, and I installed ZoneAlarm. Things are much better.

But now, the smilies on this site aren't moving, and the cool logo that Ed made for the 100 Day Cheat-free Challenge isn't morphing like everyone else says theirs does. What setting am I missing?

your logo for 100 cheat free days is morphing now on my monitor. sometimes my video display gets wonky like that and a reboot helps.

Yup. Your couch fauxtato is spinning and your 100 days logo is morphing. Not sure why you can't see it on your computer.

Mada - Have you updated or reinstalled your JAva since your reformat? Also can be caused by something either not checked or checked in Internet options advanced tab. Just throwing out suggestions.

Yep, Rob. That was a problem I had.
Mada, go to your control panel, and click on "Internet Options", and then on the "advanced" tab. Scroll down to "multimedia" and make sure that "play animations in web pages" is checked. If it is, try reinstalling Java, but uninstall it first; check in "add or remove programs" to see if it's there.

OK, this is weird... I can see other animated gifs and jpgs on other sites, just not here. I have java installed and I fixed my internet options, but still, no animation here. Could it be something I have or don't have set in user CP here?

mine says vb code is ON, Smilies are ON, IMG code is ON, HTML code is OFF.

I lied, apparently. Went to smileycentral.com and those aren't moving either.

Don't know what to do next. I installed Java from java.com because it wasn't there, and then made sure my java was enabled in internet options. I'm at a loss, now.

Will have to stick with plain ol' static smilies in the mean time.

Mada - OKay This is weird - now my smilies have stopped moving too?

I don't know exactly what I did but I went into internet options security tab and clciked on custom level and un-diasbled some options. Changed them to enable or prompt. Now my smilies are animated again.
