I'm listening to the dog lick his paws and the sound of the heater. No music. I never listen to music at home unless I'm cleaning house or the morning alarm (clock radio) goes off. Funny...I used to have the music going at the house ALL DAY when I was younger. I usually listen to music when I'm in the car, but sometimes even then I prefer the peace and quiet of near silence.

My taste is more diverse than some, but not as much as others. My current favorites are:
Garth Brooks, Tom Petty, Depech Mode, U2, Tim McGraw, Social Distortion, Eric Clapton, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and a few others.

I'm also a fan of Pink Floyd, Kenny Chesney, Natalie Merchant, Bob Marley (with and without the Wailers), REM, the Cure, Shakira, Van Halen, Martina McBride, Al Green, Linkin' Park, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Taj Mahal, Led Zeppelin, Lonestar, Beach Boys, Aerosmith, Ozzy, Steve Miller and other 70s, 80s and 90s artists.

I also enjoy listening to gospel music live, but never bought any recorded gospel.

About the only music I don't care for is opera, jazz or classical. Good thing my friends don't lean toward the "upper-crust elite," huh? LOL

I'm listening to my daughter in her room playing guitar and singing "Malibu" by Hole.

I think Melissa is my long-lost twin! The cat is messing with something behind the bookshelf (I'm hoping it's not alive, whatever it is....) and my dog is dreaming...whimpering and little barks....toooo funny!

Our tastes in music are alot alike. I don't think I'm so nutty now! You listen to Kenny Chesney and Linkin Park.....and I listen to Los Lonely Boys and Clay Aiken. We are ALL OVER the music map!

*L*.. melissa.. sounds like you are as diverse as i am..*L*.. i like to go to LISTEN to live jazz.. but i seldom do at any other time..(once in a while on sirius )

oh.. and call me crazy but i LOVE josh groban.

shimmy... yeah.. well if MY daughters sang? i would listen to them TOO..*L* i used to like to listen to my neices husband (before he was the husband .. and ex husband..*L*) most people thought his music was depressing... but i loved to have him just sit with his guitar in our living room and sing.. awesome!

i am frightened beyond words ed..*L* but i DID listen to it... wasnt as bad as his cover of the barry manilow "ALL THE TIME" ...... and it did have a DIFFERENT sound to it... than... uh... i expected.. um.....

Listening to the sound of my space heater as it warms up my office! I seldom listen to music at home. I love the silence. But, when I do, it's country or Black gospel. Melissa, you and I have similar tastes. I'm going to a Black Gospel concert tonight at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I can't wait! I also love the Gaither Vocal Band. I play it REALLY loud and really get into dancing to it when I'm working around the house.

Rob...LOVE Van Morrison. "Moon Dance" and "Into the Mystic" are two of my favorite songs of all time.
Right now I'm listening to Foo Fighters. My musical tastes are pretty varied, too; current faves are the "Genius Loves Company" cd by Ray Charles, and an old Elvis Costello, "Imperial Bedroom". I like a lot of alternative music (yeah, I'm, um, middle-aged, but what can I tell you?) like Modest Mouse and White Stripes.

Trina, I'm "middle aged" (well...if I'm going to live to, say, 100!) and I listen to a lot of alternative, too.

At the moment, in the CD player is Bob Dylan's "Time Out Of Mind." The pile of disks on the desk waiting their turns currently includes Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros, "Streetcore"; Beck, "Odelay"; My Morning Jacket, "It Still Moves"; Prince, "Musicology"; and Sheryl Crow, "The Very Best Of."

Every few days I pick out a new stack, listen my way through them while surfing or working, then replace them with my next few days' choices.

Add my name to the Van Morrison fans, too! "Into The Mystic" knocks me out every time I hear it, as does "Moondance" and countless more by him.

Oh, right now I'm catching the morning news on KCBS. In the car, I usually listen to an "oldies" head-banging rock station. That's a recent shift in taste; until last summer all I listened to was tradtional music - mostly celtic, heavy on the fiddles.
