I'm coming to Austin! I'll be the host for a Hallmark event featuring one of our best Greeting card writers and a Hallmark calligrapher, who will talk about what they do--and where they get ideas. More important, we'd like to hear about the cards YOU love and the stories of your lives.

Here are the locations:
April 12--Mozart's Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd 3-4 p.m.

April 13--Book People, 603 N. Lamar, 10-11 a.m.

April 13--Central Market Westgate 4477 S. Lamar, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

April 13--La Madeleine Arboretum, 9828 Great Hills Trail 7-8 p.m.

April 14--Azul, 1808 E. Cesar Chavez 10-11 a.m.

I didn't know that Hallmark cards had conventions. Be sure to let me know if they come to So. Cal. I'd LOVE to attend..but with my schedule, I need to plan a couple months in advance.

I had no idea that you were involved with Hallmark cards. Writer or designer? I must look for your colledction next time I go into our Hallmark store.

I am a NUT for Hallmark ornaments! Unfortunately, I don't have the money to be a true collector. I usually buy myself four or five ornaments and my mom often picks up another three or four for me after Christmas. Ken Crow is my absolute favorite ornament designer and I was very lucky to have him autograph a beautiful 4-piece santa and sleigh ornament about 10 years ago.

Isn't it funny how Hallmark is such a big part of our lives? I can recall watching the Hallmark specials on televison when my children were young. Hmmmm...perhaps I should have invested in Hallmark stock! LOL

It's nice to hear you're a fan, Melissa. This event isn't a convention. Just intimate gatherings in coffeeshops to talk about stuff. It's warmhearted fun.

I'm a Hallmark writer, and one of the things I do is write some of those teeny-tiny verse stories on the Keepsake Ornament boxes. My verses on the "Secrets" cards are considerably wordier. Ken Crow is a wonderful person as well as a talented artist.

The only people who get to own Hallmark stock are employees. It's a privately-owned company, and members of the Hall family still run the business. The Halls are great people, by the way, and the company is just as upbeat and caring as you'd expect.

Carolyn, it's great to hear from an Austonian!

We're booked to the max and on the move the entire time we're in a city, so I really can't plan a private meeting. Hope you can come to one of the events, though, where we'd certainly have a few minutes to chat before and after. I'd be delighted to meet you.
