| So what are you reading this summer? I am about halfway through Wicked. My kids and I are crazy for the musical score. The book is a bit different from the musical's story line but very interesting. I also have The Mermaid Chair to read. It is by the same author that wrote The Secret Life of Bees. Oprah is going to announce her summer book selection on Friday's show. I hope it is a good one.

| I've seen some new ones out that I want to read, but haven't yet. (Robin Cook, James Patterson, Danielle Steele, etc.) I think there were a few more of my favorite authors that had new books out too. I also like Mary Higgins Clark, Tess Gerritsen, Joy Fielding, etc. I have a list of about 20-25 authors and I look for new books from them. |

| I'm trying to finish all of John Sandford's Prey series. There are 16 in the series so far and I think I've read 8. I'm on the library reserve list (#7 in the queue as of this moning) for Broken Prey, his latest. |

| I just finished Broken Prey and it was very good. I almost didn't want to the book to end when I read it because now I'll have to wait another year for the next one (providing that Sandford writes one!)

| Thanks for the info Esther. I know what you mean about his books. I wish he'd write 2 or 3 a year. By the way J.S. has a website and a message board. Here's a link: John Sandford |

| No Kim it doesn't really matter what order you read them in. The one I'm reading now was from 1993, the one before that 2002. Lori - never read Eragon but I remember reading that he started writing it just after graduating high school at 15. what were we all doing at 15? |

| Actually, I'd say that it helps to read the Prey series in order in the long run because of some recurring threads that work through the stories. I didn't read them in order in the beginning, but went back and started to, especially when I was working through the list to make sure I hadn't skipped any. With such similar titles, it was hard to tell if I had read one or not before. BTW, I've listened to many of them on tape. The ones our library has are narrated by Richard Ferrone and I can't recommend them highly enough, as Ferrone does an outstanding job.

| Just got the new Norah Roberts second in the "garden" trilogy: Black Rose. I'm halfway through it and am loving it. I'm also reading Linda Fairstein's last book (can't remember the name) and "Rage" by Jonathan Kellerman. I love Audible.

| I finally got Elizabeth George's mystery "With No One as Witness"--the latest in the Thomas Lynley/Barbara Havers series. I won't spoil it totally if you haven't read it, but I am seriously, seriously bummed, and silly as it may be, feeling rather betrayed and depressed. :( I started another mystery today by a new-to-me author, but the first chapter had a guy burning swans.....ya know, I just don't need that, either!

| I have also been reading the prey series- they are excellent! It seems like books are my downfall though- I start a good one and will finish it in a day! Bad for the exercise. I just finished Big Bad Wolf today- I highly recommend it. Did fit in a little tour on the bike also so that is good! |
