![]() http://oreck.com/small-home-applianc...dual_motor.cfm Does anyone have an opinion or experience with the small Oreck uprights? I saw a busperson using one on a restaurant carpet and it seemed to do a really good job. ??? Now that I'm in a multi-level home, I'm thinking it would be nice to have a small vacuum on each floor, instead of dragging the big, main vacuum up and down stairs. Otherwise, any recommendations on other ~small~ vacs? PS... I still like my Roomba, but I'm not sure it's built for the ages. It still works well. But it's looking kind of worn around it's guidance wheel.

| The maintenance guy here where I work swears by the Orecks. He even bought one for his home!

| I don't know much about Orecks, but I say go for it regarding having a vac on each level. I did that and it's great!

| Are you sold on an upright? If not, I can recommend this one for an inexpensive second vac: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2031963 It's the one I chose when I decided I wanted an upstairs vac. I find a canister a lot handier than an upright for doing the stairs, and this one does a very good job. The only thing I would criticize is the bags are quite small, but they are very easy to change. I have only had it a couple months so don't know how it will hold up, but so far I really like it (especially for the price). Aderyn |

| I've got a regular Orek and I love it. Don't know about this appliance, though.

| I love my Oreck, too. I would guess that this little critter will work well for you; I've had three Orecks (one was a little hand-held canister) and had good results with all of them.

| The Oreck looks nice, but I decided to go the cheap route (money is going to be a bit tight, what with moving expenses, etc). I ended up going with this Scunci vac for $59 (Bed, Bath, & Beyond) vs. $149 for the Oreck. I like it so far - it weighs only 5.5 lbs. It does very well on floors and very low-pile carpets, like an oriental carpet. There's low pile wall-to-wall in some sections of the house and it's noticiably more difficult to push over that kind of surface. But, I really like the swivel head, which makes it very easy to vacuum around chair and table legs. I have not tried it yet, but you can detach the wand and use it as a handheld vac for stairs, cars, etc. ![]() Anyway, now I have 4 vacs,

| I realized when I was vacuuming today that I do have one more criticism of the GE canister vac--the bare-floor attachment is pretty small (less than 1 foot wide). I have mostly bare floors and it would be nice if the attachment would do a bigger swath with each push/pull. Aderyn |
