| Some of you know the story with my son. He is the sweetest baby in the world. This spring he was diagnosed as autistic. I was of course devistated as any parent would be. He's such a good natured and smart baby as many autistic children can be. The key to helping the children lead as "normal" a life as possible is early intervention. By the parents as well as trained professionals. I have enrolled him in the Aspen Center for Autism. But unfortunately this school is fairly expensive. Well today I got the good news that DS has been approved to receive disability which will go to pay for his special education. I told the SS guy "I'm not going to be one of these moms that takes her kid's disability payments and buys a new car!" And I'm not. My baby needs special help and he will be getting it. He was going to get it before but now I will be able to send him for more days at the center a week. Years ago I use to work at a school for autistic children. If anyone was meant to have a special little boy like this it is me. Believing this has helped me accept our situation. I have the patience and love that a special needs child (and all children) deserve. Just thought I would share this wonderful news with all my online friends (second family).

| That is wonderful news! Your little boy reminds me of my friend's son who is also autistic. With therapy and special schooling, he has come a long way to the point that he's now engaging with people and the environment around him. With you behind him, your lovely son is sure to thrive. Again, I am so happy that things are working out for you!

| Noel, Xander is one lucky boy to have you for a mom! I'm happy for you both, that you've found the means to get him what looks like an excellent program to contribute to his development. {{hugs to you both}}

| Wow, Noel....that's great! I am so happy for you and Xander. I believe he was given to you because you are uniquely qualified as "best Mom" for this sweet little boy. I, too have followed along as he was diagnosed, when you found the school, etc. so I am happy this has all finally worked out for you two. So, how is my little nephew? Since we are your second family and I have no neices or nephews and never will, I am glad to have one now!
