Red face The yen felt 'round the world...

Hello friends,

I just got back from my grocery store, and while I was bagging my stuff,... I noticed there were collection boxes for hurricane relief!!! How cool is that? All the way over here in JAPAN!!! I was so moved by that, and I smiled as I put in a 1000yen note (about $9).

We had a major typhoon here last week that did some major damage (it hit south of me) ... but there was still more coverage on the news about the devastation of Katrina than the typhoon here.

The power of the media, the kindness of strangers, and the far-reaching impact of this tragic storm.... amazing

Just wanted to share...

I wish you all health and happiness

Wow, that is incredible. It renews my faith that people are intrinsically good-hearted and want to help their fellow man whenever possible - no matter WHAT is portrayed by the media!

I agree, Char. I feel so badly for all the victims, two and four-legged. It's good to know that people, all over the place, are reaching out to try and help in any way they can.

Me too, Maggie! We've donated three times already, once through Salvation Army and twice through DH's work. It feels good to help out SOMEhow.

I hope that all the disasters will stop happening.

The responses here are helping me to see that people in the US DO care and are helping out. It is really unfortunate that some of the current affairs reports we see here in Australia are suggesting otherwise.

I hope that all governments learn from what happened in New Orleans and surrounding areas.

Dragon, the press is EVIL IMHO. They only present what they want you to see and in the worst possible light. They really anger me! And I'm talking about HERE so I guess that's universal as well.

I just keep saying "But for the grace of God go I...."

We only really worry about tornados here in North Texas...but people have been killed and/or lost everything to those, too. Natural disasters can happen anywhere at any time.

Bless you for your donation and your good wishes for these people, too!
