terrific reading rob! thanks for the link..

and the fact that she mentions ANDREA on the list is nice too..;-)

it sounded like she was talking about MY home..:
"
The town name doesn't matter, suffice it to say it was in the middle of nowhere and could have been named "Paradise," with everything about this town idyllic - incredible mountain views, a running creek right outside our Bed & Breakfast, hiking trails, fishing, a clear night sky with more stars than you can imagine not obscured by the city lights and air that is fresh and touched with dew in the morning.

Just a breath-taking location among many throughout the United States that millions get to call home each day.

while there arent ALL the great selections of good food here... and i DO drive 50 miles each way to get to a HFS... i can find what i need... fresh veggies.. good selection of cheese..and dairy... fresh farm eggs can be bought... and moon has gotten GOATS milk fresh from a neighbor when he wants...
but i DO agree that the resturaunt SELECTIONS in the way of entree's are pretty carb and grease laden..
and other than ONCE in a while.. a SALAD BAR is NON existant..

you really have to be on your toes to pick good choices..
and there ARE several of those smaller town "GROCERY STORES" and i use the term LOOSELY... that carry exACTly what she describes...

not to mention the icky food "deli" quick stop food fried fat nasty fare...*L*

anyway rob.. thanks for the info... i bookmarked the site... and will be visiting some of the sites mentioned in her blog..:-)

Quite an interesting tale. In the town I grew up luckily we had more selection than that, though of course I always went for the processed food anyhow. My mother now drives 72 miles one way to do major grocery shopping just because the prices are better and that is where she has to buy the hard to find things. Though there are no Whole Foods or Vitamin Cottages anywhere near so she also orders a lot from the co-op truck and online.

Thanks, Rob.

Great reading. I can relate to her "food hell" experience. Kind of reminds me of my first two day seminar after I started this way of eating. I was so glad that I'd brought a canister of Atkins shake mix, "just in case." There was precious little I was willing to eat at that meeting.

I have had the opportunity to meet Regina, and I have nothing but admiration for her and her husband, Gil. They are both solid, thoughtful low-carb advocates and I am glad her blog is getting some play. Which reminds me... I meant to add it to my home page links...
