| hey all .... i'm doing some research on iPods (thinking of getting one for BF for christmas) .... i see that they offer the following: iPod shuffles: 120 songs ($99) or 240 songs ($129) iPod nanos: 500 songs ($199) or 1000 songs ($249) i'm not interested in the newer/better ones b/c they are too expensive. any of you have/use one of the types i've listed? pros/cons? and does anyone happen to know where i can find better prices (website perhaps)? thanks!

| Hey Carrie...those prices sound about right...most stores are pretty much the same cause I'm certain that Apple sets the rate. Check the Apple site and then you can compare from that. I have the regular iPod that holds like 10,000 songs...LOVE IT!! We bought DS the new video iPod for Christmas...lots of memory on that one too. DD has the mini, but I think that they have phased that out for the Nano...I have LOTS of CD's, so I always want the product with the most storage capacity. The Nanos are selling out like crazy! |

| Carrie, there are two reasons I'd go for the nano over the shuffle personally if you can swing the $$: First, 120 (or even 240) songs really isn't all that many if you have an extensive collection you'd like access to. More important to me, though, is that on the shuffle you can't call up particular songs or cd's--the only options are "shuffle" and "play in order." I need to pick the music for the mood or moment! Of course, on the positive side, the shuffle is tiny, and if you are only going to use the shuffle, say, during exercise with a defined playlist of relatively interchangeable songs, it's probably enough

| I just got a shuffle, and I love it. But I am considering returning it to exchange it for a nano. One question to anyone who has one of the more expensive ones, can you make it play a random selection of songs? I really like this feature, but I would like a screen, and more room too. I still haven't decided which I would want the most though...

| Mine's got a shuffle setting that you can turn on or off in the menu.
