I'm listening to Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia. While I normally listen to music from my era, I do really like this band. Most of what I listen to is from the 70's & 80's and mainly Australian or English.

LOVE Green Day too...just listening to it as well!! My 14 year old DD is pleased that I appreciate her taste in music...LOL! I turned her on to The Stones and Queen and REM.

I've actually got the American Idiot album on - but it's playing in random order so it's anyone's guess what the next song will be. Holiday has just come on.

DS now has an electric guitar and electric bass and I have noticed far less complaints about my music lately. Of course much of what I listen to makes the greatest guitar riff lists. I have been enjoying a lot of new music over the last 2 or 3 years but the 90's was a musical desert as far as I was concerned.

Poor DS (16yo) is still trying to find a band I don't like..... Isn't there a natural law that your parents are supposed to hate your music? The only types of music that I don't like are ones that he doesn't like either (rap & techno).


PS DS saw Green Day in concert earlier this year, the lucky rat.

Your DS sounds JUST like my DD!!! I was thinking of getting her an electric guitar for Christmas, but not sure I could tolerate the noise of her practicing in this small space. Wow...he was able to see the guys in concert!...LUCKY!! American Idiot is my current favorite workout CD.

I really enjoy alternative rock, so the 90's provided some of my favorite stuff...Alanis Morrissette, Matchbox 20 (yum...Rob Thomas), 10,000 Maniacs...etc, etc, etc...

kenny rodgers..lionel richie CROSSROADS on CMT..
(adorable crossroads if you like either ONE of them... and i love lionel richie singing... and i DO like kenny rodgers...
(saw kenny once in vegas a jillion years ago.. it was 77 i think... january... anywho.. he hadnt come out with LUCILLE yet... and i swear i was the ONLY person watching him at a little piano bar thing.. he was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not in demand...

i remember thinking how fickle celebritism is... and how you can be so hot one minute... and yesterdays news the next.. LITerally..

then LUCILLE came out shortly after... and he was RIGHT back up in the limelight...

and brainwashing my children as little tiny tots to listen OVER and OVER again to barry manilow ..had some wierd impression... because all THREE of them love barry now.. (to their friends amusement ..as they are 28,30, and thirty one now..

son (31) went to vegas a week or so ago... and called me while he held out the cell phone so i could hear BARRY manilow singing when son was watching his show..

Bought some CD's last night for DD's Christmas stocking....Coldplay: Rush of Blood to the Head, and the new Franz Ferdinand CD. Bought the Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD, Lost Christmas Eve...love this group! Right now, I'm listening to the original sountrack from The Life Aquatic...kinda cool and eclectic...Seu Jorge sings David Bowie songs in Portuguese!

Okay now I've decided to get into the Christmas spirit. Am now listening to my record album (and I really mean record) that I got the last Christmas I was in Canada - "The Original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Other Children's Christmas Favourites" by Gene Autry with guest star Rosemary Clooney.

I have tried and tried to find cds that are of a similar quality to the old lps I have and nothing has stacked up yet.

Oh my goodness...that is an oldie!! I agree with you about the LP's...none of my favorites are on CD (except for Nat King Cole).

Colleen...I bought Eminem's new CD last night and DH is having a FIT!! He tells me that I must load it onto my iPod so that I am the ONLY one that can hear it. That's OK...figure it will give me the 'rage' that I need to get through my workouts.
