LOL@ Esther! I totally agree! I thought for years it must be all in my mind....since it is named Poison, I must just THINK it smells like bug spray! I am so glad to know other people think it smells that way, too.

I work with mostly men, and the B.O. problem is worse in the summer, of course. Some of them I can't smell at all. But there are 2 of them in particular that just REEK!

One guy is a little skinny 95 pounder that just smell strongly of sweat, like he doesn't wear any kind of antiperspirant OR deodorant. He's a jerk, anyway.

The second one is a real sweetheart, but when he's sweaty, he smells....it's hard to describe.....kind of sour/sweet/ripe......eeeeewww! Like fruit that is overripe/rotten....it is far worse than Skinny Man's Sweat.

I am paranoid about B.O. I make my 8 year old wear antiperspirant! And I do all the things one needs to do to NOT STINK!

No matter how late I may be running in the morning, I shower. Then there's the antiperspirant/deodorant: underarms AND groin, followed by a cornstarch based body powder. And I do wear cologne....but not much, Vickie.

Don't even get me started on bad breath! LOL!

I have another peeve....people who just don't pay attention. Today our Section 8 voucher program manager is doing a briefing of the program, before she issues anyone a voucher. It's in the Community Room, and she's put up neon fluorescent yellow signs pointing to the briefing. A girl came into the front office, said she got a letter about some briefing, where was it. I said to follow the signs, and pointed to the foyer where the first sign was. She asked, "What signs?" Duh, the neon fluorescent yellow signs that say "Section 8 Briefing in the Community Room" with an arrow pointing the way!!!!!! Yikes!

Perfumes don't smell the same on everyone, and there are certain people who react badly to certain scents. It's just that they can't smell themselves, so perhaps a close friend should clue them in, eh? I know when Exclamation! was popular oh, a hundred years ago, I loved the way it smelled, until I put some on! OOOOOweeee! I smelled like cat spray! Yes, I said it--I smelled like urine! Eeeeewwww! People should really test out the fragrance before they bathe in it.

Good point Bethany....I agree, a good friend would tell these ladies they stink...well...not in those words exactly...*L*....if I KNEW these ladies I would certainly tell them. But, because these are just people who come into our shop...I'll just continue to open the doors and spray air freshener after they leave.

I can tolerate "Tabu" by Dana on certain people....it's one of those that smells different on everyone. But when my former best friend wore it, it reminded me of stale beer and soap mixed together and made me want to hurl. It also gave me a big headache. One of the very few disagreements we ever had was over that nasty perfume. She kept saying "I've gotten more compliments on this perfume than any I've ever worn." I told her I'd buy her any perfume at the mall, regardless of price if she would just NOT wear that disgusting stink around ME!

She finally changed and used another kind, but she was really mad that I asked her (very nicely, btw) to please not give me migraines and the desire to projectile vomit. Gosh, you'd think people would like to not stink.....or make their best friend ill.....

We don't usually send out statements on rent or excess electric usage to our tenants. They all know how much their rent is, and we tell them they can call the office after the 20th to see if they had an overage on the electric. Last month we delivered a statement on the electric to all our tenants who had an overage, because it was so hot and some had some humongous overages, some over $100, one nearly $200, which is very unusual. So, with that statement, they can add that amount to what their regular rent is and know how much rent is due on the 1st, right? No, I've been getting calls left and right asking how much is the rent, when I tell them, they ask if that includes the amount on the statement we sent out. Sigh. And then when they come in to pay, and I tell them the total, they ask if it includes the amount on the statement. Yes! It was already in the computer, the statement came out of the computer, the receipt shows the total. It's the exact amount. They look at me dazed like I'm overcharging them or something. We sent a letter with the statement, telling them that the amount wasn't due until they paid their September rent, but a bunch of them trotted in to pay the bill anyway, during the last 2 weeks. I just don't know how to make things any simpler for people, I've tried to make all our letters very, very simple so that anyone can understand, but it appears that for some, simple isn't simple enough. I just wish they'd pay attention and not just guess at what we mean.

    Hear, Hear, Nita!!!

I have the same problem here at work with these guys. I send initial COBRA notices to them telling them to complete the form only if their employment with the company ends.

As soon as everyone received their letter, they came to my desk -- one by one -- asking if they needed to complete the form and give it to me. I said, "Are you still employed here?" "Uh, yeah." "Then you don't need to complete the form."

This went on a long time so I finally added a statement to the notice -- in capital letters -- highlighted in yellow:

THERE IS NO NEED TO COMPLETE THIS FORM AND RETURN IT UNLESS YOUR EMPLOYMENT WITH <us> ENDS.

That remedied the problem. Now when I send a notice, I just write it the way I'd speak it, and it works. The last time I asked for updated personal information for their files, I wrote:

"Fill in the blanks on this form and give it back to me. Don't gripe or whine about it, and don't make me come hunt you down for the form. I will find you and I won't be in a very good mood when I do, so you're better off just doing it now and giving it to me ASAP."

Believe it or not, that works for these people.

Thanks for letting me chime in here.

I just got back from the zoo and all I could think of the way home was coming and ranting.

On a day like today (gorgeous) the zoo is very busy. t toko me about 15 mintues to find a parking space. Not a close parking space, but ANY parknig space. I was lucky to find one less than a mile away. So we're done and leaving and this guy is driving behind me slowly so I say "are you looking for a space?" He says "yes" and I point out my car still a ways away and say "I've got the blue car parked at the end of the top of lot if you want to drive up and wait". Which he was very greatful for. So he gets there bfore me adn puts his turn signal on and waits. I get up to the car, put the stroller away, get Xander in his carseat and begin to back out. As I'm backing out this woman runs up to the side of the car and motions her husband to take my spot when CLEARLY this guy has been waiting for the spot for like five minutes...I knew he didn't mind the wait as getting a space. So I roll down my window adn point to him saying "that car is taking this space" well she is still motioning. So I got mad and pulled back inthen backed out so he couldn't get the space first, I think the other guy saw what was happening and jumped on the space as soon as it was free. I know it's a dog eat dog world adn if they had gotten to teh space at the same time I would have been like whoever gets it gets it but the fact that this guy had clearly been waiting even before I got to the car meant (I felt) he was entitled. If there had been any chance the lady got in the way or anythign I would have sat there or gotten out of the car and given her a piece of my mind.

Boy, am I glad this ranting section is here. I feel much better now.

Noel, I'm glad you like our ranting section.

I usually buy Quilted Northern toilet paper, but when I bought tp last time, the store was out of the regular, and had only the Ultra Quilted Northern, so I bought it. I always buy the 12 pack of double rolls. Well, it seemed like we were going through tp really fast, the rolls didn't last nearly as long as usual, and it's not because we've been in the bathroom more often. So I compared packages. The regular tp is 528 sq. ft., the "ultra" is 300 sq ft. No wonder we were going through it so fast! I didn't compare prices, but I'm sure they cost the same. I can't tell the difference as to softness, either. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

MEN! What more do I have to say?

Mine are driving me absolutely up the wall!:( I guess women aren't supposed to get sick, because then who will cook, clean, etc.? :cook: Why is it that when men are sick, they expect to be waited on hand and foot, but if a woman gets sick, she's still expected to do her daily chores? Why can't men pick up the slack?

And my "babyman" seems to want more attention than usual. Could it be that I'm just imagining this because I'd rather just be left alone (or waited on myself!)?

(Copied from an old post....discussion about birth control...)

"How about a vasectomy for the Hubster? My doctor said it's far easier than a tubal for women, but men are such babies....and doing tubals pays the bills. This is the reason he is an OB/GYN, he said he HATES treating men. I said "You're a man!" He said "I know, and I'm a big baby too when I'm sick or hurting!" LOL"

At least he can admit it. My drama king husband can manage to turn a panic attack into 4 days in the hospital, convinced he's got a bad heart*......and get a 'tude when his (elderly) Mom falls and bruises her ribs/chest and wants to go to the doctor. He said "She is fine....she's got this all built up in her head and she just wants attention!"

    ....ring.....ring.....

Is this the "pot calling the kettle black" or what?!?! I was so dumbfounded I couldn't even say what I was thinking: "I'm sure she's where you got your drama thing from!"

    * he doesn't have a bad heart.....nor did he have a "cardiac episode". When he underwent an angiogram, the doc said his heart was in "excellent" shape! He may have Munchausen Syndrome, but he's not a cardiac patient by any stretch of the imagination.

I know I am lucky, and I wish there were more of them to go around... a man that cooks and takes up the slack...is worth their weight in gold..
    .
dh is home all week (works sat and sunday 12 hours each day) so he cooks, does laundry, vacuums, what ever needs to get done during the week to keep the house going (of course I have to either make him a list or he has to make a list) but he does it, and I come home most nights to dinner on the stove ready to eat.. so on the weekends I make sure I have a good dinner for him when he gets home, do shopping(one thing he refuses to do) and pick up any slack that still needs to get done...

When I am sick (which isn't very often) he is great about getting me soup, tea, whatever I need, (better than I am when he is sick cause he is sick more than me and I am not a good nurse) and continues to keep up with the house.... so

how do you get one of those guys... has to start from the beginning.... letting them know that you aren't their momma, and they have to pick up the slack... especially those of you have have kids and work full time.... they can do house work, and cook, (if they had an apartment before you got together, they probably had to do it then....)

and for those of you women with boys children, make them learn to cook, clean, laundry, vacuum, etc. all for the future women in their lives....if they say but daddy doesn't do it... just say some day in the future you will really impress a women if you know how to cook a meal for her....
    just my thoughts.

If I could rent him out I would although I think he would be gone all the time if I did...lol

My husband is helpless in some ways, but exceeds himself in others. He ALWAYS puts the toilet seat down, he doesn't leave his clothes on the floor (but leaves his shoes in the living room), can't iron, doesn't like to cook, but will do laundry if I need him to. So, I get both the bad and the good.
