I agree with the hotel sheet thing 100%! Our house caught fire last year and we had to live in a hotel for a few months. To get a discounted hotel rate, I had to agree to only getting maid service once a week. Every single morning I had to figure out how to remake the stupid bed!

LOL @ Barbwinkle.........too funny. Yep I HATE when the plows bury the end of the driveway as well. Grrrrrrrrrr. And our snowblower is on the fritz. DH doesn't willingly go out (another pet peeve) and shovel, so I do it. But I figure it's good exercise for me. Although, I'm fightin a cold, so I don't think I will get out there to shovel.

The sheet thing is a pain too, although I don't stay in motel/hotels much. But DH finds a way of undoing the sheet on our bed too, so I deal with that on a daily basis!!!! Grrrrrrrrr.

Ok here's my pet peeve for today. I live in an apartment building so I have to use the public washers on the ground floor.

What anoyes the heck out of me is people who leave their wet clothes in the washers for hours after the washer has done its thing. Or they'll leave their dry clothes in the dryers for hours before comming to get them!

One of these days I'm going to take all their clothes out of the washers and dryers and lay them all on the bench!

Last evening I wanted to use the bigger washing machines to do my laundry (I had a big load to do), but had to spend an extra $1.50 to use two smaller machines because some idiot had left their clothes in the bigger washing machines (My apartment only had 2 big washers). I had done my 2 loads and dried them (so to speak), before they came down to get their clothes. (that's a total of an hour and 25 mins!)

And to get me even more pissed I got a crappy dryer and my towels were still wet but didn't have any more change to throw them back in the dryer! I ended up having to hang up all my towels around my apartment to get them to dry!

    Ok I feel better now!

OH BROTHER Anik!!!! That would peeve me to no end too!!! You SHOULD throw their stuff on the counters!!!! If it were me, I would leave them a nasty note too!!!! They're not the only ones needing to use those facilities. How thoughtless!!!! (I'm peeved :( as much as you are and I have my own washer and dryer, LOLOLOL)

I get peeved if my kids come over to do laudry (which they don't do much anymore) and they don't get it done right away and leave stuff in the machines.

You should have seen poor DH last night when I came flying into my apartment throwing all my wet clothes all over the place! I was soo angry!

I was rambling on and on, on how I inconsiderate the people in my building are and how I couldn't wait until we got started on building our new house and how I'd have my own washer and dryer...........ah...I can't wait!

I must have looked like a mad woman.

DH just sat there and said nothing......smart man!

Oh, Anik, I'm mad just reading your rant! When you buy your own washer and dryer, if you can afford them, get front loading machines. I bought the Kenmore set, saved about $300 over the Maytag. The clothes wash so quickly, come out drier than a top loading machine, are less battered because there is no agitator. Because they are drier, they take less time to dry in the dryer. We didn't buy the fancy boxes with drawers to set them on; my DH built them. Sturdier, and lots of storage in the drawers. It's worth the extra cost, if you can afford to go that route.

Oh, I hear you! Back in my single days I lived in a small apartment building that had two washers and two dryers. I didn't hesitate at all to take the clothes out of the machines if they were in there a while. If I took them out of the dryer, I'd leave them folded on the table. I always stayed in the laundry room while doing my wash so my stuff would move along and not tie up anyone else (not to mention leaving your stuff was a good way for nice clothing to get stolen as it did when I lived in a dorm.)

Big peeve today are the people at work who leave their dirty dishes all over the counter and in the sink in the break room instead of putting them in the dishwasher. Hey, your mother doesn't work here!

QueenMama's right on the money about the front loaders. I have the Maytags and love them. The other benefits are that they use less water (our water bill went down quite a bit after we got them) and less detergent so my jug goes further.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definately consider them (front loading washer and dryer) when I purchase my own machines.

I agree with you totally on the dishes Ester! People in the lunch room here leave the dirty dishes on the counter all the time instead of loading it in the washing machine. You sorta wonder what their place looks like!

One of my many purchases when DH and I move into our newly build house is a dishwasher! For two people....Mannnn we use a lot of dishes!

WHAT???!!!! You guys have a dishwasher in your breakroom???? and people can't even use it???? I'm flabberghasted.

LOL, Anik, it's just me and DH here now too and boy do I dirty a lot of dishes. It's just inherent with LC, having to make everything from scratch. LOL

We have to run the dishwasher nearly every day!

It's only DD, DH, and me. And we are all gone all day. We only eat dinner at home, except for weekends.

The pets have their bowls. (Which are put in the DW once a week.)

So, why do we have to run the DW almost daily? I am the guilty party here: I don't like my food to touch each other. SOME foods can.....the "rules" are all in my little pointed head. It drives my husband batty. I have ALWAYS been like that! So, we have all these little plastic bowls and my plastic-took-leftovers-to-work bowls, too.

Not to mention my daily 32 0z. plastic cup for my green tea on the way to work.
    Barb.

And if I actually get up and make myself some egg thing for breakfast....there's some more dishes. Good grief!

I Swear, the dirty dishes reproduce overnight sometimes. I TRY to get them ALL done after dinner, but there's a cup or a bowl left on the counter (usually by DH, hrumffff) at night and I swear they are doing "their thing" after I go to bed!!!!! (Mental image.....dishes from Beauty and the Beast dancing and cavorting around my kitchen. Maybe they're Dirty Dancing. LOLOLOL)

    Pet peeves:

Fathers who don't manage their diabetes, have a second stroke, have part of their parathyroid removed, have gastric bypass surgery, ... in a sense have their life handed BACK to him, and STILL carry on with their destructive behaviors of over-eating....

Fathers who lash out at the wife who has nursed him through all the crap he BROUGHT UPON HIMSELF, and then refuses to go to marriage counseling.

Fathers who, after having gastric bypass, love to tell people about how little they can eat now, all the while snarfing down Christmas goodies (and then spending a good chunk of time in the bathroom because of that, ...you know,..."dumping syndrome")

Daughters who are exactly like their fathers...

Daughters who can't communicate openly and honestly with their fathers because they don't want conflict...

Kelly, I had a similar experience with my father (communication-wise) and now he's gone and it's too late to change anything. I know how you feel.

My peeve today are the liars who think they can get away with it.

I had a couple apply for both our housing programs. We ask if anyone in the household has ever been arrested, and they say Yes and why. We also ask if anyone is on probation, and they say No. So we do the background check through the TX Dept. of Public Safety, and it shows that he was convicted in 2003 and is on 5 yrs probation. I called our local probation officer and asked him if it was possible for him to be finished early with his probation, he kind of hemmed and hawed and then gave me the phone # of the office where the arrest was done. They were looking for him! Apparently he is still on probation, and wasn't supposed to leave his county. I asked if they wanted his address, they said yes, and I happily gave it to them. They have a warrant for him that our local law enforcement will be serving. So, my peeve has been settled nicely. I told them I would wait awhile to send them their ineligibility letter until they have opportunity to get the warrant issued here, so he's not tipped off that we know that he's a liar, and soon to go back to the old hoosegow. Sometimes there is a degree of satisfaction in this job. Today is one of those days.

I am with you on this one! We actually had a lady here apply for assistance as a hurricane evacuee. She got all set up for free housing, money, food, etc. Turned out she hadn't even visited down south for more than a year, much less lived there during a hurricane.
