Oh you LUCK, LUCKY, DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so envious!!!! We tried to get something going in the midwest for awhile last year, but it fizzled.

You guys should GO for it. AND you HAVE to take pics and post them here!!!!!

Just do me a favor when you get down to planning the fine details of this: DON'T post any addresses (like where you will meet, etc) or phone numbers or any of that stuff here on the public forum. Use the private messaging to exchange phone numbers, addresses, etc, so no nut cases will get ahold of your personal info.

Have a GREAT time planning this shindig and then have a GREAT time doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the safety tips, Barb. It's too bad we have to be wary of some fruitcakes on the internet that may want to cause trouble, but I know they are out there.

I hope we can get this thing together soon. I think it will be fun.

Great: now when someone Googles "fruitcake", this post will come up....probably #17,421,590.

But then again, who in their right mind would want to google "fruitcake".........I mean the holidays are over now and who makes that awful stuff anyway???? Anyone who does fruitcake usually gets a family recipe handed down. LOLOLOLOL (thinking to self........."They MUST be fruitcakes to make that stuff."

Hi... my name is Katie... and I love fruitcake. I don't have a family recipe because no one else in my family likes it. It was the one thing that my DH really, really wanted that we couldn't have at Christmas. Oh... so that's why we're together... we like fruitcake.

I love fruitcake... don't eat it any more/.. but my sister in law in pa makes a killer one, she starts it in like september, then soaks it in rum/burbon, not sure, but it comes wrapped in a cheesecloth that is soaked, and the cake is to die for....

anyway, when is easter, lets make sure we don't hit that weekend.

Barb, we tried last year, but it fizzled, and maxi and i are just wanting to meet.
so we resurected it again, why not try it again and see what happens.

I still think Waco is central to all of us. Felonee, I think I went through Talco on my way to see relatives in New Boston. Waco would be only about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive for you.

Thanks for the info, Dan. Knowing him, he was probably trying to dissuade me from going by saying that. Waco is fine with me. We can do some searching online for someplace to meet. I wonder if Heather is still planning to be my date......
